any recommendations for a moose hunt with trad gear, reasonably priced , and decent success rates ?? want to bring my dad next year!!

Is moose dangerous game now? I hear newfoundland has cheep moose hunts.

I am in the Maine moose lotto,if Idont draw I am headed to Newfoundland in 2013

Where to go depends on how much you are willing to spend. Newfoundland is a good value. Lots of moose but not a lot of big bulls. Expect bulls to run 30-40" with a few bigger. Cost is between $4000-$5000 a person. The farther west and north you go the price goes up. The middle of Alberta runs 5-$6000. Northern Alberta and B.C. run about 8-$12,000. Alaska,NWT and the Yukon run between $10,000-$20,000.
If your just looking for the moose hunting experience and don't have to get a bull consider putting in for a cow tag in the lotteries. Non-residents have decent odds on cow tags, especially out west.

NorthWest Ontario is about the cheapest moose hunting there is.. its a great moose hunting experance and runs between 2K and 4K,,

if your considering a lottery for cow or bull, colorado has good odds for out of state residents. Areas around rabbit ears pass just before steamboat, and the dead mans areas, both located in northern colorado up and around the poudre canyon are loaded with moose and i have had several close calls with them there. One time i got stuck between mamma moose and her calf....not a good place to be.

Good moose hunts with high success rates are not usually talked about in the same sentence with the words "reasonably priced" You truly get what you pay for when it comes to moose hunting. I killed a 44" moose in newfoundland only to find out in 13 years that was the third largest ever killed in camp. Alberta has phenomenal moose hunting, A good friend of mine runs True North Outfitters in Alberta, He has a website under the same name. Jeff is a great guy, takes a limited number of hunters, usually only two a year and kills huge bulls. They are known for their very impressive fronts in that area and are worth the extra cost. His price for a hunt of that caliber is what I would call reasonable but that is relative isnt it? Good luck in your search.

Well I could not not resist answering this...I was archery hunting in northern Colorado very tip of the Rocky Mtn. Natl Park boundary near the WY border. I was hunting Elk archery season which is about the same time the Moose,(Shiras) go into the rut there. Back then if still the same regs, were protected and in the area I had hunted,only 2 tags for Moose per season and 1 Governor's tag to the highest bidder. Anyway, the reason I mentioned this is you can imagine. It was a perfect storm scenario and that week it hit while I was there. Too many Moose per square acre and all super pissed off. The story is longer, however, all I can say is, that I was charged by one really big Moose on a trail on my way up the mountain and the only place I could run to was a group of lodge pole sized pines the basically formed a cage to keep him out. Now remember, they are protected, really big and too many. And they seem to know this, they are the King in those mountains.
The pic I took of my little friend earlier that week. The timbers in the background was around the area I was walking along the game trails.
