I sure looks like a Damon Howatt that I have. THe same green glass and brown wood belly overlays. The riser is shaped different than my Diablo which makes me think it is a different model.

Definitely a DAMON HOWATT.  The overlays on the lumb tips are distinctive.  The riser looks like it could be a BANDITO, but I don't ever recall seeing a BANDITO with a laminated riser.  I connot tell what model it is, but it is a DAMON HOWATT.  Their information was usually on the belly of the lower limb just below the riser.  Yours was probably refinished and the info was sanded off.

Do the initials HM look like they arwe hand written?  Under the finish?

My guess is that whoever refinished them put his intitial on the bow before he applied the finish to it.  In my opinio, there is no such thing as a bad DAMON HOWATT.  They made some of hte finest bows around in their time.  Like other manufacturere, they had their high line and their lwo line.  However, yours appears to be rosewood, and i doubt that any bow maker ever put rosewood into a lower end bow.

JUST MY THOUGHTS

Well, the Howatt part seems to be unanimous. I am not a Howatt expert and do not have any of their catalogs, but I have a couple of guesses.

By the way, how long is the bow?

First, I have been told that Howatt employees sometimes made bows for themselves that were like the "production" models, but did not have any decals (I do not know about other markings). If this is true, then I would not be surprised if one of these employees made himself an "upgraded" model. Anyway, this may be one of those bows.

Second, as far as the "initials" HM go, I have seen both an older Howatt Mamba Hunter with a serial number that started with HM, and a Howatt Hunter NE Plus Ultra of similar vintage to this one that had a serial number starting with HM.

So, here are my guesses. I am looking forward to having a true Howatt expert educate the rest of us.

1. Since I cannot get a good look at the finish, I can not tell whether or not the bow was refinished. But, I suspect that it has not and that it is one of those Howatt employee bows.

2. If this bow were a 62" (AMO) bow, then, because of the fancy overlays, I would guess it to be a Howatt Monterey (some of the Montereys seems to be upscaled Hunters). This is my "best guess", since the Monterey is the only "shorter" Howatt that I have seen with overlays as fancy as these.

3. If this bow were a 60" (AMO) bow, then I would guess it to be a Diablo, maybe even an "upscaled" one.

4. If this bow were 58" (AMO), then I would put even more weight on it being and employee custom job, since I have never seen/heard of a 58" bow with these kinds of overlays.

Okay, guys, there is my 2-cents. Now, let the experts step up and set us straight!

Perhaps gto_guy will come back.
My Diablo is 58" with  same glass and tip belly overlays as above but the riser is  different. Maybe just  different year rather than model?

Measure from nock to nock around the curves on the belly side(facing the shooter)this will give you the bow length.

I will measure that when it gets shipped to me and let you guys know for sure.Do ya`ll think it was worth a 100.00 bucks? This is my first bow and I hope I made a decent purchase for the price.I went to a bow shoot with a friend and got hooked. Thanks for all your help so far.I also found out that Damon Howatt had a plant near Yakima,Wa and the person I bought this bow from lives in Yakima,Wa.So it is a possibility that this could have been an employee of Howatts
