Which coin does it have?
-
-
sounds like 61-GRAYLING GREEN GLASS,african rosewood riser, alum coin,60" only length
-
I think the painted coin would be the '62 with the pewter coin. They painted them black with the bear in relief. I think the paint was to slow the pewter's oxidation. Pretty common to find them missing the coin as they would get brittle and crumble and fall out.

the coin is not always reliable to age a grayling bow, often they would just grab a coin out of the bin and the previous years were used until they were gone,a 1962 kodiak will have bark grey glass.

This it? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=20839&item=7108502525

It looks like a twin to one I have and am calling a '62, but I could be wrong on that one too.

grayling green and bark grey look alot alike on those oldies

Guys I am very sorry for any wrong that I have done.I never intened to work the board as some have said I did.I bought these bows and sold these bows.I was asking about the bows because I did not know anything about what they are worth.I have had gangers ask me questions about stuff and thats what I asked what I thought were freinds just like anyone would who needed and answer.I never wanted to offend anyone or caome across like I was useing anyone.I am very sorry and will not ask anymore.I wish someone would have emailed me and told me I was doing something wrong.I bought these bows because the price was right. Also knew if I sold them I might be able to sell them for more.If this is wrong I am sorry.I buy and sell on ebay all the time.I am not a taker.I give when i can and Love to do it.I love to wheel and deal on just about anything. So I am very sorry for anything I have done wrong or if I offended anyone. Thanks<><

Just my opinion but I read most of your post here and can see no wrong with anything said or done. You were up front about the bow being to light weight to keep. This area of TG and the fellas here are the greatest and friendliest source of info I've found anywhere. I hate to read about anyone here feeling bad about anything, we all or most all got familys to support and times are hard (for me anyway)

Wow,Hope doing that isn't wrong.I do the same thing on a small scale. That's why I'm asking about the Kodiak up top.I do this to pay for future hunting trips. But usually I keep them to shoot,Kinda like a piggy bank. Eddie

Sometime ago, Ron, one of the moderators asked that the page be use for discussing collectibles Hopefully not for appraising finds. Gleaning info for the purpose of selling probably comes pretty close to the same.
Maybe asking questions on the POW WOW page would be better received. Or maybe it's time they put a Classified section on, but doubt if it would be much different than Delores's

I guess my opinion is that discussing collectables and gleaning info for the purpose of selling isn't all that different.I wasn't offended by anything Frank did.Where else can a guy get info on dating, rare lengths etc?As long as this doesn't become an appraisal site I really like it.I've never answered a post(to best of my knowledge)with an estimated value but have tried to help people get info-usually dating on stuff.
Hopefully Ron will tell us how he wants it to be then we can all adhere to the guidelines.
(i guess I won't ask for a value of that old photo I have of nels grumley shooting fred the bird behind his back) :scared: :knothead:

I understand what y'all are talking about now. It never occurred to me to even ask about value on the only bow I have that means anything to me. I plan on using it to hunt with in heaven.
