Howdy All-
Posting here to catch a few more Volunteer eyes and to give everyone a reminder about the rabbit hunt coming up. This is one of the first events of the TN Traditional Archery Society and will be near Columbus TN on 1/13.

Look under "events" for more details.
And check out the space that Tradgang has given us to post under the State Forums section. (Thanks again Terry!)

I posted directions on there, but fell free to drop me a line at [email protected], (http://[email protected],) or give me a buzz a 615-496-6785.
I think I am gonna head up on Fri the 12th and set up camp for the weekend.
See you all there!
-
Dang I sure wish I was going to be home for that one. I'm from Lynchburg, TN but live up in Grand Forks, ND. Hope it turns out great for you guys.
-
Chad-
Really enjoying that CD I bought off you. I think High Wild and Free along with Longbow Country are my favorites. With you and Jim, we have two of the three best known traditional archer/singer-songwriters in the nation. Maybe with you guys and Mark Baker, we could have "Trad-a-roo or Trad-a-palooza"..... :smileystooges:
Anyway, the rabbit hunt should be good. Thanks for being the go to guy on this.

There is a couple of us coming to the rabbit hunt, can we join the TTAS while we are there?
-
I am hoping to be there. I have my letter to join TTAS on the counter by the door to mail right now.
-
Chad, we're still planning on being there Friday night if all goes as planned.
-
Trad-a-palooza !!!!! David , that is too funny, LOL !!!!!! I LIKE IT , LOL
-
David,
Glad you like it! You are welcome to stay in camp that weekend and hear them live....
TNBuckskinner,
You can join there, but if you want to be considered a charter member, I think you have to have everything into Jim before the end of the year. You can send it to:
Outdoor Buddies 829 Tower Hill Rd Livingston Tn. 38570
Looking forward to seeing you all there. I hope a few of you have some good dogs, otherwise I will have to send my hunting partner Hacksaw into the bush, and we may never get him back....
-
Trad-a-palooza sounds like a good idea to me....
I am trying to get Mark Baker to come out next year, since his family is from Tennessee. We may be able to do a group at one of the Management areas.
I am headed to LBL tomorrow, and will be gone until New Years. Ya all take care!

Chad-
As much as I would love to go, my wife and I will be traipsing around in AZ/NM/UT doing some camping and backpacking. My wife stays for some work in AZ and I get back on the 15th. Will have to go next year.
Would like to toss out the idea of a spring squirrel hunt this year though. TN has a season that opens in April/May and might be a good time to lose/loose a few arrows. As soon as Jenny and I get back to TN next year, maybe I can host a few of these. We'll be moving back to the Pikeville area and have a lot of public ground nearby.
-
David,
Sounds good! I always forget about the spring squirrel season. I guess I am to focused on longbeards here and in WV at that time....
Thanks for posting the reminder. I will send you some pics in a few weeks.
-
Wish i could be there, but i have 19 duck hunters coming into camp that weekend to hunt and I have to guide. Ya'll have a blast!!!!
-
up for another view
-
Anyone else going from the west tenn area?
-
ttt- As a reminder.
Come out and join us!
-
Chad, do you think you can line up some local rabbit hunters to bring out their beagles? We might make bowhunters out of them. I know it would make the hunt more fun if you can. JB
-
I rode out to the site today and did some scoping out of the area. The Duck River is out of its banks and the turkeys are all gathered in the fields just above the high water mark. I had a little problem using the backquiver going thru some of the thick brush but I still plan on using mine for the hunt.I have never hunted/been in this part of the WMA, always over at Cheeks Bend,Luther Sharp,Sowell Mill area- but the spot designated looks to be excellent rabbit habitat. Bring plenty of arrows because its rocky for sure!!
-
I think you were on the right side of the river. I was planning on heading to the opposite side of the river where the large meadows and brush piles are. I have seen lots of bunnies while turkey hunting, and the latest Tennessee Sportsman named this area one of the best rabbit habitats. Lots of squirrels, also.
Plenty of coyotes in the area. Bring a broadhead or two.
Jim, I haven't gotten any feedback about dogs, and I don't know of anyone that has any locally. My buddy Hacksaw can probably jump a few. He does have a good nose on him....
-
The rain forecast is still on but hope to see a fair turnout anyway. I hope to be there around daylight.
-
I will see everybody tomorrow, rain (likely) or shine, LOL
-
Be there with bell on!.....or rain gear on, as the case may be.
