Great stuff Doc...

VERY clever. Completely solves the nagging problem of most all hole repairs looking like hole repairs.

Hey Don, how thin is the veneer? (I should post a pic of my 63 Kodiak that the last owner used as a perch for woodpeckers!)

crappie pic sorry about that.I stain the overlay with rosewood stain now.bd

that overlay is a piece of maple corewood about .030 and I feather the edges with sand paper to kind of blend into the bow.I'll get another pic in a couple hrs with the rosewood stain on it.You get the idea using the overlay to cover the holes.Little extra work will make you bow look a little better when your finished up with your restoration.bd

doc did you do the checkering on the handle?

you get the idea normaly I would use the same type wood as to the tip overlay but in this case I only had maple on hand and had to use the stain. If you have a thin layer of the same type wood as the riser you can skip the staining process.I should add also the I glued that overlay down with loc tite gel ? I held it in place with me fingers so no need for clamps or masking tape. That whole process to get rid of them butt ugly holes took me aboout 20 minutes to make and about 2 minutes to glue down. Its a quick and easy way to cover those unsightly holes.bd (http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii175/bowdocsarchery/brent004.jpg)
