Last year I bought a new Red Stripe and a set of #3 and #1 limbs. Both limbs have creaking noise when drawn. I replaced the pads on the latches and put a coat of wax on the locator screws.
I took the locator screw completely out of the top latch. The creaking is now gone. Will it hurt the bow to shoot it with the screw out?

Some guys do it, and have given advice to take them out. No issues that I know of.

It depends on the individual bow and the riser/limb fit. I tried taking them out on a green stripe riser that I have and the bow was very noisy without the locator screws. No damage done but I couldn't stand the noise. I suspect that continuing to shoot it without the screw would have resulted in some unfortunate wear wherever the noise was originating. To eliminate the creaking sound you might try some silicone lubricant in the locator holes on the limbs -- that works very well.

I tried wax but never any lubes. I replaced the factory screw last night with one with a smaller head and still no noise.

I had to take out the screws when a set of limbs did not fit right on my mag handle. I tried the sandwich bag trick which helps with noise but lately I am using some real thin packing foam between the limb and pocket. The foam is thin enough not to cause an issue with the latch closing but it keeps the limbs from moving around in the pockets.
The foam was packing in an envelope. Those kind were they send stuff then want a donation.
