I just acquired an early model Grizzly I'm trying to find out about. I believe this to be a mid '50's model maybe a static. Bow is marked 62" and 51#. It is both left and right hand and has leather grip. Limbs are unidirectional black glass. It has silk screens. There is no coin. Each limb tip has a insert of wood maybe 6" long that would stiffen the recurve section. Limbs are very reflexed. Bow is in remarkably good condition. Am I right on perhaps a 56 or 57 date of manufacture? Any idea of value?

It sounds like a 56 to me. Silk screens and 4" overlay. 57 would have the shorter overlay.

Well, thanks to the great Grizzly identification guide that was brought back up, I now know mine is a 57 model. Bow is in great condition. Still safe to shoot?

Safe to shoot? There are older bows out there still working just fine, and if your bow has been stored and cared for properly, I bet it's safe.
Just string it carefully, do a few short and slow pulls looking and listening for potential problems. Use heavy enough arrows and go for it. Good luck.

I as of yet have not strung the bow. Haven't made up my mind if I will or not. Bow is in super condition and looks to be all original. I have flexed it a few times and everything seems fine.
I supposed it would be neat to hunt with at least once. But I'm already shooting a mag handle Bear takedown from the mid '70s.
