Title: Bear cub longbow
Post by: 92Fspc4 on May 31, 2016, 10:51:00 PM
Picked up a Bear Cub long bow. Red fiberglass.  No shelf.  Says 45 lbs but weighed in at 55.  Great shape.  Never had a long bow but think I'll enjoy this one.  Anyone know anything about this bow?

Don't recall Bear making a Cub longbow with red glass, could be wrong, but maybe it is a semi-recurve. I had a Cub with red glass, no shelf but with nylon pegs on each side

This has a nylon peg.  Might be considered a semi re-curve but would be called a reflex deflex today as the string only touches the knocks.  What year was your cub ibtx?

They are in the 69&70 catalogs and are said to have working recurve limbs. If the serial starts with a 9 it should be a 1969, probably would start with a K if it is a 1970. It was many years back that I owned the Cub, I always considered it being a semi-recurve, but maybe I was wrong. I was looking at the auction site and there was a red Cub that was strung and it appeared maybe that the string did not touch the limbs, but it was hard to tell for sure.
