Title: Make of my Wing Archery Falcon? (updated with pics)
Post by: AZWarts on April 07, 2017, 04:05:00 AM
I have been looking for a 40-45lb recurve for a little bit now to play with while I'm laid up with a broken ankle. I wound up buying a 62 AMO 45# Wing Falcon. I have been trying to search for a way to tell what make (Bob Lee, Head Ski, AMF and the seller claims it is a Bob Lee) it is and have come up with zilch. Until i can figure out pictures I'll have to give as description as best i can.   I appreciate any expertise given!

The handwriting on the riser states:
62" F7-5928 45#
The belly and back of the bow have a green lamination and the decals are white. The riser appears to be a one piece hardwood. There is also a creme or yellow lamination in between the green and hardwood.

With the decals I would say early Wing.

Thanks Zepnut. Now I am curious how many tradgangers were eyeing it.

Now that I see the silkscreens instead of the decals I would say its a later Falcon. Maybe someone else can narrow down the year.

My Thunderbirds either say nothing other than the model or they have Head Ski under the model. Other than the earlier Lee Wings having smaller tips than the head ski's they shoot the same. I personally like the Head Ski models.

It sees that all the Wing bows are considered to be good shooters. am I wrong in thinking this?

I haven't shot all Wing models. I have shot Thunderbirds, Red Wing Hunters and Presentation 2s. I prefer the T-birds, to me the others were good but, didn't fit me. Do you drive a Chevy or a Ford? That's what it is all about personal preference. I shoot Bear bows too and I think like every other brand if you search thru them you'll find some that don't shoot as well as others I know that's my feeling.

That is likely around 1966-67 from the tips, side plate and decals.

Just read the serial number being F7...it is a 1967, made just before the move to Jacksonville, Texas and just before the sale to Head Ski. It's called a "transition" bow.
The first Thunderbirds were made at the same time...they are labelled T7-XXXX

If I can see the lettering I can tell if the serial digits were written by Charlotte Lee, Bob's wife.

It did work and I saw the image but it's not her printing.

Falcon's are really great bows that punch way above their weight and price point...I see a lot come up for sale and they always find a new home quickly!

They point well and are quiet in the hand.
