While cleaning out my late fathers effects, I remembered he told me he had several Art Young broadheads.I did find them and I seem to remember he said they were pre production broadheads, as they ere not sharpened. I believe they are from the 1930-40"s. Any information I can obtain about there history or worth would be appreciated. I could not find much on his equipment online except his on Art Young.I would attache a picture if I knew how.

Fred, The Art Young heads do have some value.There were several different ones so a picture would help. If you know how to send a picture via email send me one at [email protected]. I am a broadhead collector and would be interested in buying or trading for one. I may have an Art Young Worlds Fair coin.

Has this turned into the classifieds? It's a shame no one has offered to post a picture for the man so we can all see the heads.

The main purpose of my original post was to find information about my broadheads. Secondly,,to obtain an approximate value for them. If and when I decide to sell them, I will post that on the appropriate section of this site . Please keep that in mind.

Correctly stated, all Art Young Broadheads are Pre Production as Art never formally went into production, advertised and sold them due to his untimely death on February 26, 1935.
Signature heads commonly sell for several hundreds of dollars, depending on condition and provenance.
Art's Signature Head, (so named because it bears a facsimile imprint of Art's famous signature), is the best known of his broadheads. Most variations of it are simply the location of the ferrule being in a different position on the blade. Some ferrules are flush with the rear of the barbed blade, other ferrules are recessed above the end of the barbs.
Before Art made the Signature heads, he made many heads that resemble the Signature heads in some regard. I named these heads "Pre-Signature" because that is when they were made, prior to the Signature heads. I have handled and photographed more than a half dozen variations of these heads. Although some closely resemble the Signature, the Pre-Signature heads are much rarer and much more valuable then the Signature Heads, especially if it can be documented that Art made or used that particular head & arrow.
Authentic Pre-Signature Heads are extremely rare and obviously have 4-figure values.
The chrome plated Pope & Young Club Commemorative remake of Art Young's Signature Head is a common trinket that many non-collector bowmen acquire as memento of the most respected bowman of the first half of the 20th Century.

I referred this gentleman to the group when he bought the heads into the shop, if anyone would know the history behind them it would be on this site.
