Have this Howatt bow marked with both Mamba and Hunter
decals. The only other markings are on riser the number 46
with a number 1 under it. I'm sure the 46 is draw weight. Anybody have any idea when this bow could have been made?

I am not a howatt expert by any means but with the poundage stamped into the wood and the leather wrapped grip I would say 1960 1961. I am sure there are others that know more than I do.

That's a mid to late 50's Howatt with the pound stamp as Wadde says...BUT that "1" stamp is extra special. Bowyers at Howatt were ID'd by the number, and the man himself was #1. You just may have a true Damon Howatt bow. Good for you!!!

An early Howatt for sure.Maybe the Mamba decal added later in production?
Very nice regardless

Thanks for the replies and info.

It's a 1957.
That is the original decal. It has been refinished on the riser as the serial numbers are gone.
The #1 was not actually Damon Howatt's. Any bow he made had no bowyer number and he likely was not making any bows at that time.
I think bowyer #1 was Peter Brauer.

Thanks for the reply Gerald. That sense about being refinished, I was wondering why there were no serial numbers.
Glad to finally know the year model.
