April 1st. He was 18 years old. We thought he might have had the flu. Decreased appitite, sleeping more, seemed to have indigestion. It started on a Thursday and on Saturday I decided I would take him to the Dr. on Monday if he still didn't feel well. He went with family to pick up a cousin returning for a visit from boot camp. We let him go because he wanted to so badly. With flight delays and all it was 3:00 am before they got back home. I had worked third shift and got home at 8:30 am. I slept for a while. We didn't think too much of it being 11:00 am and he still wasn't up because of the late night they'd had, but went to his room to check on him...and he was gone. They say it was probably a virus that had attacked his heart.
God is sustaining us but I miss him so much I can hardly stand it sometimes. I have cried everyday for over five months now. My husband, daughter, younger son and I are doing pretty well with God and the support of family and friends. I haven't posted anything for quite some time because of a big job change and I didn't hunt last year at all. My ten year old son wants to hunt with me this year and I've posted on pow-wow asking for advice. I just felt that I should share this.

Though his time on earth was short it was filled with my memories he made with family and friends. God is in control and he doesn't make mistakes! My hope is one day that you stand before God and He will show you the impact your son had during his time here. My heart felt prayers are with you and your family.

Prayers for you all.

We have already seen the impact he has made. He was always a quiet kid and kinda shy, but we've heard time and time again how kind he was. I knew this, I just didn't know how many others knew it.

Dear Bona, our Friend and Sister in Christ,
What more can be said than has been? I wish I had some comforting words. I hear hope in your shared thoughts, given your strong faith and testifying to how God is sustaining you. Praises to God for that and for all of you for knowing He is the source of healing.
I'm sure we're supposed to hurt in times as these. As expressed by others, my heart aches for you and your family.
Please come and share as you need. This is a good group of caring people who will always understand.
May the Peace that passes all understanding keep you and yours...

Bless your heart. My Sister lost her oldest boy at 18 years of age (years ago). Lord willing, they are exchanging notes about how much their Moms and families and friends loved them and miss them, and hoping we all will understand they are in a better place.

I am not sure how to respond to this, being a youth leader kinda puts an xtra big lump in my throat. We are not promised any amount of time, but He does promise us that He will never leave us nor forsake us.I know thats easy for me to say being that I can still hold my child, hug my child and tell my child I love her.I just want you to draw closer to the Father now than you ever have before.1) for the needed comfort and 2) because I feel quite certain He is holding in His arms, the one you used to, and after all is said and done where else would you want him to be???? So if I can be so bold as to suggest....
"don't wrestle..just nestle". He tells if we draw close to Him, He will draw close to us. Don't allow satan the priveledge of seperating you from the love of God.
In his name.Brad Brought

Just as the song sais " I can only imagine what it will be like just to walk by His side". One day we will be dancing around His throne singing Holy Holy Holy Lord God Almighty. I can not say what I would do if my child preceeded me in our Lord's presence but I can imagine your son singing to our Lord. May God's peace comfort you and give you rest in Him. Holy Holy Holy O Lord God almighty.

Thank you everyone for your thoughtfulness and prayers. Tears are streaming as I type this. Secret tears are shed daily still. But, God has blessed with tons of support and the magority of my days are stable. Shared joy with the younger son today when he got credit for a QB sack! The girl is doing well in and enjoying chior. My husband is harvesting corn and things are going well for him. Getting out in the deer woods this season has been good therapy also. God bless you all!

Your family is in our prayers.

I'm not sure how to express this, quiet grieving is one way of healing- my way. but my wife heals by sharing all the fun, laughter and such that she holds dear in memory of her father and niece.
I don't know how you grieve, but there are many who grieve with you.

May God continue to give you and your family strength during these tough times. Don't keep the tears a "secret", let them flow. God and time will heal. God bless you and your family.

Tears can be God's way of allowing us to wash clean the hurt. Cry away, Bona...
Our hearts are with you as are our prayers. Remember the "footsteps" poem where God carries us when things are the darkest.
Imagine His loving arms holding you and carrying you along the beach...
Shalom, Bona...and peace go with you.
