Well folks, this has been a really really tough year. I have been out of work now for over 6 weeks and have no idea when I can return. I have to have an MRI on Jan 5th, and then go to University of Virginia Hospital on Jan 11. Not sure where this is going to lead, but from the looks of things, or should I say feel of things, not good at all. With bills unpaid, no income, and just the stress alone is overwhelming. So put me in your thoughts if you would

Many of us here can empathize with your employment issues.
This physical challenge though, that is a pill.
Stress is what we tell ourselves about the situation we're in at that time. Healing is also a lot about our mental state...
Go find that special place that allows you to renew your spirit and mind...
I too share the insurance and health challenges that go with bad jobs or none at all, but thankfully, I'm not facing whatever malise you are being challenged with right now.
All I can share is that small still voice saying that this is your time to "let go, Let God" and Let HIM be in charge.
When we reach the end of our rope, it's time to tie a prayer knot and hang on for dear life.
You are in our prayers for a good diagnosis, a better prognosis and that you find the inner strength to Trust in Him who promises never to fail us, if we but Believe....

Looks like things just keep getting worse. Thanks to everyone for the prayers and concerns. I found out Monday, that my inner left ear is completely damaged beyond repair. Basically what I have is a twin engine airplane, with the left engine missing, and now I have to lear to fly this plane. Also found out that this is permanent, and any kind of infection in that ear again, will do the same thing. Things for me right now are really bad, no work, no income, going to be a real tough battle. Please keep me in your prayers.....please

Found out today, that the damage has been done, and there is nothing that can be done to correct it. I will be doing exercises the rest of my life, at least 30 mins a day, just so I can stand and funtion at some level. Not good. Was also told that if I get another infection in my inner ear, I will be right back were I am now, so I ask how do I prevent that??? You don't. Even the flu or a good sinus infection and trigger this all over again. Well I refuse to live in a glass bubble, so if someone see's someone staggering around looking out of place, just trun me around and point me in another direction, because I sure don't know what direction I am going in now...........

Found out today, that they will call me tomorrow and let me know when my job and benifits will cease. Now no insurance or job. Car was repoed last week, and down to change in my pocket. This is just not what I expected out of life. I have no idea what road to take or try. I have to find something to survive, just have no idea where or what to look for. Keep me in your prayers please

May God provide you insight, discernment and direction amdist all this turmoil. If your job says you can't work, consider hitting on your local DC representative to see about getting support for SS Disability. I know, I know...but it's there for a reason for folks who've been dealt a tough hand...not what it's become.
Keep the Son in your eyes....and there is no shame in coming back and "talking" to your brothers/sisters here. That's what "community in Christ" is all about...None of this "final post" stuff!

Had another visit to the Dr. yesterday, and it's official. I have lost, for various reasons, inner ear and eye nerves, just about 50 per cent of my balance system. Going to be a rough time learning what I can do and still stand or what I can do without having to lay down to stop the dizziness. They have taken me off of the blood thinners that was suppose to get more oxygen to the nerves, but the damage is done. So now it's a trial and error on different meds, (tranquilizers) to get me to be able to function on a somewhat normal basis. Driving??? Almost out. Bending, leaning over, jumping up and down, all the fun things in life just about out. Not sure yet whether I will be able to shoot, until the meds take over and stabilize me somewhat. Have to go to SS and apply for disability next week, as that is my last hope for getting some income. Going to be rough for a long time it appears, but when I look at other post, mine is somewhat of a lesser problem, but one I have to learn to live with, if possible. Please keep me in your prayers

You've been dealt a serious hand, for sure. But it's not the C word. The human body can adapt and compensate in miraculous ways...even for us old farts! :)
Don't let this beat you. Determine yourself to enlist God's armour and beat it back down to submission...
No, you will never be the same...but I'm reminded of Toby Keith's song... "I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm good once as I ever was!"
Print that! Put it on your bathroom mirror! Live it and believe it! You can find a way to keep fullfillment in your life while dealing with the crappy hand you've been dealt.
I'm not minimizing. But I've met you and there is way too much life and living in you to give up. Retrain your senses! Make it a priority to NOT let this beat you brother!

Lord please help my brother find what is needed to get him on the right path. I am reminded by your word that we are to give thanks in all things. That is what I'm doing right now. I thank you for Doctors who have the knowledge to find these things and for the knowledge that You have given them to know how to treat them as well. I thank You for my brothers post about others being in more need then he. It shows forth his strength to look past himself and fine the needs of others. Lord I pray that You will allow his claim to SS to go thru without all the red tape that comes with this. But most of all I pray for understanding and wisdom for this brother to see where You are working and where You would have him join you in service. I ask all this in Your Holy and blessed name....Amen.

Wow, difficult times for sure. Prayer on the way.
Life is not easy. For some stretches it can be for us lucky to live in a great country, but trial and tribulations fall on all of us. Don't forget the majority of the people on this earth live way below the poverty level. They are happy to have drinkable water, a little food, and some make shift shelter. Forget about health care or even a doctor. You will be OK, just hang in there.
It is through the hard times I most clearly see the hand of God and learn to lean on him more and me less. We tend to think we don't need him when things go good. It is a huge blessing and encouragement to see God work, but it is often not easy.
I know it is hard, but when I don't think I can go anymore with hard times, I try and count my blessings. Looking at the good stuff in your life will pick you up. Having a savior in Jesus and promise of eternal life without problems is the best possible thing you can ever have. No mater what happens in this life, I have that. Like my pastor likes to say, The only thing you can take to heaven is people. Eventually we all loose our stuff, health, and lives.
I know it is very hard for you right now, but nothing is impossible for God if you trust in him!

Got my paperwork from SS this morning. Have an appointment on 7/14. Now it's just wait and see.

Good Luck with SS. If you get full diasability, It takes 2 years of disability payments before medicare kicks in. Then you get part A (hospitalization) automatically at no cost to you. You become eligible for Part B (medical) at the same time, but you have to pay a premium. If you decline part B and try to sign up later during the annual open enrollment (jan-Mar) it won't kick in until that July.
If you are covered under someone else's plan as a dependent/spouse MAKE SURE YOU KNOW IF THEY WILL PAY YOUR BILLS IF YOU DON'T SIGN UP FOR PART B!!!!!!!!!!!! I got screwed because I thought my wife was covered (she had carry over coverage for 5 years through LT Disability insurance) and decided not to pay the 2nd premium. Now the insurance won't cover her as primary although it still pays her prescriptions. They say because she was eligible they ASSUME she has the coverage! SO now she has almost no medical coverage until we get to open enrollment/July of 2011...18months with no health insureance the way the timing is working out!
They will find a way to screw you!

Hang in there bro. I know things are tough. If you get turned down, I hear that somewhere near 65% do and then you got to sic a legal beagle on their butts! Today we have to fight for even what's due. :(

Had the meeting this morning. Now the wait begins, they said it would be up to 120 days before a decision. So, here I sit, and day one is not even over.......lol. Hope for the best

Got a letter yesterday that SS have received my claim and is reviewing it with the doctors. Got a call last week stating that if they can not decide on what the doctors say, they will send me to one of their doctors. Got some help through social services for food, so things are at least moving in a direction. Hopefully they will see and understand my problems and give me the disability. Have lost so much, but have everything to gain and start life over, just in a different approach and attitude.

charlie we are very sorry to hear of your situation. i don't understand what your going through, most of us have gone through trials and are still here to pray for you. we're all living examples of his power. there was a time i wanted to give up,(certainly thought about it a lot),down in my soul i knew god didn't want me to. he wanted me, heart, mind, body, and soul. it may sound easy for us to tell you to have faith, but i truly believe it's easier for those of us that have seen what he can do. Blind Faith, When We Know That We Know, He Is Faithful and give it to him. we want to have hope with doctors, but it all starts with him and then you. there may be some that won't agree with me, but i truly believe our prayers can't be heard until you surrender eveything to him. so many times in his word, story after story, he did not bring them out until they truly realized who he was. if you have truly surrenderd, i ask your forgiveness. i pray you haven't thought i've been judgemental, i'm not, only GOD knows your heart. only the truth will set you free. we love you brother, don't give up the good fight, GOD and his warriors have got your back. through CHRIST you already have all the weapons to win this battle. :knothead: :clapper: YOU WIN,

Bucksdown. God has been with me every step in every battle I have ever fought. He knows that I a faitfull to him and have been always. Sometimes one just has to think there has to be a reason why things happen like they do, and never get to understand why they do. All I am asking is that my brothers of the bow family keep me in their thoughts thats all. What ever happens is for a reason I know, but for some of us, the real reason will never be know. As for beating the dead horse and being a knot head, I will reframe from asking of yours or anyones thoughts or prayers. The only one that I need to help me is God as I know without "HIM" I am nothing. Sometimes it is nice just to talk, but I think my talking is not needed, so I will just reframe from saying any more. Thank each and every one of you that have shared with me. But now, I will put this to rest.

charlie please, please forgive me, the last thing i would ever want to do is to say or do anything that would cause you to stop reaching out to us. i should have kept my big mouth shut. the things i said was to us all, and me posting it on your personal prayer request was very insenitive on my part. i'm sitting here kicking myself. your not the one that's wrong here, it's me. there is no one here that doesn't love you and care about the troubles your having. i went through a very tough time a few years back and if hadn't been for people like you guys praying for me and being there for me i wouldn't have made it. i wish you knew me and my heart, i love you and only want the very best GOD has for you. i will continue to pray for you, and ask that you pray for me. from now on i will keep a low profile on the prayers and concerns thread. i do believe you have a close reletionship with the lord. i love you brother, your greatest blessing is just ahead. i'm sorry

I will be here Doc, that you don't need to worry about, and I send out a lot more prayers than I have ever ask for, that you can depend on always as well. I know for a fact that prayers work, and have been guided by many, but sometimes it just gets a little much to handle all at once. One day at a time, and one God guidence. No need to ask for forgiveness bucksdown, you did nothing wrong, just helped me with a wakeup call thats all.

Let me start by saying it was a pleasure finally meeting you at ATAR this past July....after all the online meetings....I just wish I had more time to sit and visit. I was battling some of my own demons that weekend, it has been a rough several months for me personally.....so I apologize for not being great company at times.....

Give me strength. At some point, I am sure we have all said enough is enough. After reading another post from someone who wanted to go home, I had to take a good look within myself, knowing how he felt, but not under the circustances.
My battle just got another loop thrown in it. Offically as of Aug 30, all insurance benifits have be canceled due to having been out of work on disability for over the time period allowed. I knew it was coming, but just did not know when.
Now a new chapter has to be opened and read. What can you do? What is there you can do? When will it end? The thoughts, the questions, no answers.
I know the same with you Doc. It just never ends, but somehow, someway, things always has a way of working out, its just the trial and tribulations of dealing with them that is so tough.
Not sure where this will lead me either, but it's another road to have to make unknown choices on. Does the road ever end? Does it ever get you back in the right direction? Only time will tell, and for now, that's what I have is time.
Thanks to everyone who has kept me in their thoughts. I guess I just needed to let it out.

Charles, the end of the road will find you walking on streets made of gold and where there is no pain. A place where we will never have to ask when will it all end because we don't want it to end. No tears, no sickness, no trouble of any kind. That is where the road will end in one sense and life will finally began. That is when we will be rewarded for how we walked the trails we had here. I know we sometimes lose our focus due to the tears in our eyes but the true reward is when our Heavenly Father says "Well done thou good and faithful servent, enter into my eternal rest". That is where it will all end. But until that time we have to bear each others burdens with prayer and encouragement and any other way we can. I've often wondered if the vagaries of declining health as we age is the Lord's way of trying to get our attention. Each of us would have different things He might be trying to get us to pay attention to... my list is long.
Charlie, I recall you'd applied for SSI etc. I advised then and will restate that a good law firm is needed unfortunately to get what is deserved and needed. Been in that biz few years back where our agency handled some folks... amazing to see what alcoholics who rotted out their livers and drug addicts who no longer could work having ruined their health got more easily than a working stiff whose health took a bad turn. You need a hard-nosed legal beagle barking trail for ya, bud!
I often lament things and then remember that saying, "it's always darkest just before dawn."
That has always been my reality: I am about to feel I CAN NOT endure another thing...and then it gets PILED ON! And when I "give up" trying to do it and finally turn to God..totally, in submission and humility, He always shows a way out. Maybe not what I like, but it's always just enough and just in time.
My prayers are that you be lifted up, renewed and strengthened to await God's "just-in-time" resource management program! :)

I want to take the time to thank everyone who has kept me in their thoughts and prayers. I found out this morning, that my SS Disability has been approved and things will move forward from here.
It has been a grueling 8 months both physicallly, metnally, and financially. Now my new life style can begin without reservations. I know what my limitations are and what I can do, and now start a new beginning. I am so thankfull for all the blessing's I have received this past year. When times were tough, you people helped me, comforted me, and kept me on the right track. And I again, thank you so very very much from the bottom of my heart.
To each and every one of you that are having troubled times in your life, keep the faith. As I a possitive proof that it does wonders and heals many wounds. You will all be in my prayers for your guidence and help.

First, congratulations on the Disability approval. I only know a bit of your physical situation from Johnny, but man, it sounds rough and so bizarre. I'm over joyed that you've gotten things ironed out! Praises to Him for helping bring this to closure and for keeping you centered in tough times.
Second, you're comment I quoted. This forum has kept my head above water many times when the waves were crashing over my head and I thought I'd go under.
Paying it forward is the best joy I've had in recent years.

Well I could use some more thoughts in my direction. After all this battle this year and last, getting on disability and trying to make things right with people that I have feather work for and to get out, today my only form of transportations blew up. When it rain it pours on this old boy for sure. Just another hurdle to try and get over, but man, this has been an on going struggle for over 2 years now, and it looks like there is no stopping to it. Just venting again I guess, but letting everyone know that I am ok, and dealing with all this the best I can and will make good on all my feather work for sure. Just going to take some time.

I can say that trying to keep in touch with Charlie on a personal email basis, I can say that this man is truly an icon of resilience.
He never mentioned that they tried "new Rx" on him and he went into a downward spiral, then back on his old meds and he's slowly recovering.
He shared some tales of a recent outing he was on that made me shivver. Most of us would quit, but not Charlie!

I'm fessin on you cause folks here need to know to pray not just for a set of wheels, but for your doctor's to get a better handle on this malise and the Lord to step in and do some fixing of His Own on ya!
I'm sorry to hear about your vehicle. :( I have to take my F150 in tomorrow cause my tranny is acting up. HOping it's just a seal leaking and a new one, filter and such will keep me goin another 100,000 miles!
Prayers for strength to carry on, miraculous heaing of this mystery malise and a benefactor to come forth with a transportation "fix" for ya!

Thanks a lot Doc. If it were not for my faith, I am sure I would see things a lot different. I know he has a plan, and a well though out one, but I just can not figure it out just yet. So for now, it's just do as can do, walk when can walk, and take everything else that is dealt me in stride with all the rest. I am sure all of this will come to a closure of some sort sooner or later. Thanks again everyone for the thoughts, prayers, and understanding.

FYI, I made an arrow out of Sourwood, 'cause your request for those "shoots" a while back had me get into a tinkering mindset. I now have a nice 30" sourwood arrow fletched with turkey feathers I found on Rockingham Bowhunter's land. It shoots fairly well out of the #40 longbow. Every time I see a sourwood now I think of you and how you are doing.
Trust in the Lord. He is all that we can trust in.
