You all have been very supportive of my Dad through the past challenges.
Once again, I'm asking for prayers for him.
On June 15, he goes in for a Pacemaker battery replacement. No biggie, right? Well, Dad's been "failing" again and there is some concern if he will tolerate the anesthesia needed to open him up to replace the battery.
Given his decline and total dependency on nursing home staff for all functions, including feeding, I only ask that God's Will be done.
Whatever God wants is ok with me. I ask for prayers for Peace for my Dad, Titus.
Thanks all.

Dave,
You've been such a stalwart source of spiritual support for all of us on this site. Prayers for the both of you.

Thanks, Guys! I admit, I'm wore out! :(
The nursing home charges $300/day and any given day on a weekend, with the exception of one nurse-aid combo, my Dad gets minimal care!
I was dealing with upper mgmt almost 3x/week and got some action..eased up and it all went to the crapper! :(
Dad doesn't complain much... and because he's so forgetful, you can't count on much of his "report" and they know it, so if I don't see it personally, I've got zip.
Knowing when to "let it go" and when to "ramp it up" has been exhausting!
There is no "family" just him and I left.
He's so weak and sleeps so much, I'm not sure he'll make it TO the 15th.. but if he makes it TO surgery, will he make it through the anesthesia? :)
So many questions. He's still cognizent of his world around him so he's questioning and thinking a lot, but is very private that way.
I try to engage him, but as you can tell, there are frustrations on every side... you call places to ask "why not this or that?" and they say they'll call back and you hear nothing!
God doesn't give more than we can take, but it surely ofen amounts to WAY MORE than we want, eh?
Lord in your Mercy...

Hello Doc, I was looking thru my prayer book yesterday evening and seen where I had added Pop and you. I have continued to lift ya'll up everytime I got my book out. Lord knows where you are and what is going to happen in the future. Dealing with all the things that goes with nursing home care is enough to wear down a normal person without everthing else you have had to face. God has your back as well as Pop's.
God as my brother Doc has said already, Whatever your will is may it be done. Pop and Doc need you close enough to feel your breath on them as they go thru this new problem. Doc needs to feel you holding his hand and filling his mouth with the words that will spark the responce he is needing to get the proper care for his Dad. God you said you will never leave us nor forsake us. We know that when we can't see where you are it is because you are carrying us. Please wrap them in your strong, loving yet soft arms and hold them close to your heart. Father another of your children is in need of an answer as how to move forward in all areas. Father, Pop and Doc stand in need and I know you will meet that need in your time and in your way. I love you God and thank you for hearing this prayer. Lord forgive me as I forget to see the needs of others and do my part in lifting them up. It is in your name that I ask this thing.......Amen.......Doc you have my e-mail if you need to talk.......Dusty

Thanks, all.
Thanks, Dusty. Beautiful prayer. Brought tears to my eyes reading it...
Talked to the Doc today about Tite.. He said the anesthesia is a 10% risk of complications, but the surgery is pretty minor and Dad should come thru well... and his decline (again) may be the diminishing battery input and once replaced, he could rebound nicely.
I'm going to try to plan to go to the local shoot Friday after I see how Dad comes out of it all!
Be good to get out in the woods... even if it's this HOT! How DO you S'uthin boys handle this heat and humidity and go outside to do ANYthing?
Thanks for prayers for Dad! I know God's got my back and I feel his strength...but know He never promised an absence of challenge, fatigue or frustration...just a Reward in His Father's House.

Been a hectic time: Dad did ok on his battery replacement surgery for the pacemaker. They must've laid him flat..man hasn't been in that position for a bunch of years and when they do lie him flat, he has spasms for weeks!
Other'n that, he's doing ok. Surgeon said the battery wasn't that bad, so likely won't help that much...
God's hands... Thanks so much for prayers for Dad... :)
-
Sorry to hear it's getting sticky again, Dave. May the good Lord keep you both on his list for as much aid as is possible.
-
Dave,
Glad to hear your pop's hanging in there. I have a "praise". After fourteen months of unemployment I've accepted an offer from Lancaster Labs. They took over the analytical testing of the company I've been a manager at for 31 years. I'll actually be coming to your "neck of the woods" for a few days in a week or so. Bear in mind that this has happened two weeks before my salary continuation runs out. God really does work in mysterious ways, never late, but rarely early. My weakness, should have trusted more...worried less!
-
Rich,
You sure will be in my "neck of the woods" when in Leola!
While you're here, if you get a layover period, be sure to call! I'll PM you some phone #'s.
Be grand to hook up with someone from outside the area.
Look for my PM.
-
Dave,
Got it and PM'd you back
-
Back at ya, Rich! :)
HOpe we can make it work while you're here.
To All,
Thanks for the continued prayers. Dad is back sleeping most of the time. His ole body is just wore out I guess... I sat by his bed tonite for 35 minutes and he actually woke up and asked how long I was there... Then we watched some TV a while, and I had to leave... he thanked me in a way that was not quite my Dad, but touched me deeply.
he's never been a real emotive guy, but this was from down deep inside... makes me wonder. Gave him a big kiss and hug and put on a ball game before I left.
Weren't the Phillies, but he tolerates others during travel days! :)
-
Dave,
Pulling for you and your father. I have walked the same trail.
Maybe I'll see you at Denton.
-
Sent you a PM, Jed, (course, think I typed "Ed") Doh
Thanks for the prayers, Jed and all.
Dad actually was pretty alert and awake last evening when I visited. That is a first for a while. Goes day-by-day.
His tired, 89 yr old body is about wore out, but he keeps on fighting for one more Phillies game on TV! :)
Thank you all!
-
Doc I pray that the Lord will sustain you and your dad thru this and strengthen you both with His peace and rest.
