Hello All. My second son, Grayson, was born at the end of June and has been in the ICU ever since. He had open heart surgery last Friday and seems to be recovering fairly well, albeit very slowly. We're anxious to get him out of the hospital and home with us, so any prayers for a full and speedy recovery would be greatly appreciated.

C'mon, Grayson! Got to get on home and soak up some love. Prayers are offered from my family for yours.

Thank you all very much! When I left his room this morning to go to work, his ventilator was turned down from yesterday, his oxygen saturation was perfect, his heart medicines were completely off, and they said they were going to start feeding him a tiny little bit to see if his stomach will tolerate it. He still has a long way to go, but these are all positive signs and I'll take any form of progress any day. Thank you!

WE've had a few similar to yours here amidst our Gang "family" before...
There is such amazing things they're doing with wee ones and heart rebuilding in infancy...long road sometimes, but many, many do very well and live very normal lives.
Be paitent. All things in God's own perfect timing, but I will add my voice to the chorus of prayers for your son to do well, sprint thru this and make his way into your family's loving arms soon!
Keep the Son in yoru eyes!

I wish I didn't have a reason to ask for more prayers for Grayson, but he just hasn't been doing well. He's now had two open heart surgeries (the 2nd was on Wed.) and he just seems to keep getting worse. They're going to try to drain some more fluid off his chest and stomach tonight, and if he doesn't bounce back after that they will put him on a machine that will do the heart and lung functions for him. It's absolutely amazing how tough he is, but his poor little body can only take so much and he desperately needs to catch a break.

We humbly call upon the Holy name of Jesus for Grayson.
Fighting back the tears for you and your family Sir.
Strength and Faith.

Chris,
Bud B's advice is the best and his prayer is echoed by us all.
For you personally, I worked for a while at Children's Hospital in Norfolk, VA...
I had to visit the NICU regularly to meet folks there... walking thru their watchin those tiny bodies hooked up to so many machines... one making their heart beat what looked like hundreds of times a minute... all the tubes, hoses, monitors...was the most terrifying thing I've ever seen!
And yet, many, many of those seemingly hopeless lil bodies grew strong and came thru and went home and developed into happy, healthy kids!
Our own Chip had much the same with his son having only half a heart I believe or it was hooked up backwards...and it took many surgeries before his boy came thru it...
Don't let HUMAN understanding undermine your faith or belief in the impossible when it comes to God and His children! Those tiny tots can take a lot more then we ever can...they just exist on Faith...without question.
Keep the Son in your eyes! Prayers continue!

Thank you all!
Just thought I'd post an update. Grayson's condition worsened continually on Sunday so Sunday night they put him on a heart & lung bypass machine. It's a pretty dangerous undertaking, but since he's gone on it he looks a million times better. When he went on, he had so much fluid built up in every part of his little body that he was almost unrecognizable. By yesterday, most of the excess fluid was gone and he really looked like our little man again.
He has drains in several places in his chest and abdomen and those continue to pull out fluid when they should be slowing down. Bottom line, they still believe there is an underlying condition that hasn't been addressed. In addition, his lungs are full of mucus and not really working at all right now. The bypass brought him back from the brink, but they're going to have to get his lungs cleaned out and figure out what's really wrong with him. I expect them to do a cardiac catheter when they get him off the bypass, and with any luck and lots of Divine Intervention, they will figure out the problem and fix it.

I have to ask for continued prayers for Grayson. He has now had three heart surgeries--all in in the month of August--and the last one was partially to undo some of what was done the first time, in addition to cutting away some muscle tissue that was blocking one of his arteries.
His main problem now, though, is that he is backed into a corner. He has a very serious blood infection while on a heart/lung bypass pump that is helping to keep him alive. The pump and all the other IV's and drains in his poor little body make it nearly impossible to fight an infection, but at the same time they are needed to keep blood circulating at an adequate level, for administering all the medicines he needs, and for draining all the excess fluids his body is producing. He has truly reached a very critical point.
I feel like I should share something my parents relayed to me today, although you might think I've gone off the deep end. They've been staying at our house this weekend with our 3-year-old while my wife and I have stayed at the hospital. When I came home this afternoon, they told me how when they got up this morning, the light was on in Grayson's room. They knew the light had not been on when they went to bed--our bedroom door and Grayson's door are directly across the hall from each other so the light would have kept them awake. They knew they had not turned it on and it wasn't possible for our 3-year-old to reach it even with a step stool, plus he was still asleep.
They told me this just a couple hours after the ICU doctor told me Grayson may not be able to recover from this--she said it in a very matter of fact way as if to prepare me for what is coming, and the whole discussion just keeps playing over and over in my mind. But then I get home and my parents tell me this about the light. They say it and wait with strange looks on their faces, as if I'm going to tell them they're crazy. But my reaction was just the opposite... I told God this afternoon that I didn't need any signs, I just need Grayson healed. But there is no doubt my faith wavered terribly when the doctor told me the infection could kill him. Hearing about the light brought an immediate smile to my face, like the world was lifted off my shoulders. But I don't think it means we should stop praying for him. He's still a very sick little boy and your prayers would be greatly appreciated.

Well brother it is a real wonder what they can do with these little fellows in there. I pray in agreement that this light will come on and stay on. Father, you are not caught off guard or by surprise with all of this so we must understand that it is part of a plan. We ask that you show forth your healing and grace to Grayson. Thank you for hearing this prayer today.......Amen.......Dusty

Please know we all are prayerfully behind Grayson and the whole family. Typing through tears of hope!

You may not know for some time the significance of the "light" but it is no doubt a "God-incidence" and no co-incidence"
Rest if Faith and accept God's will while we join you in asking for His Grace and Healing on your tiny son, Grayson.
Lord, in your mercy...

Hello All. I wanted to say thank you for all of your prayers. I haven't met a single one of you, but still I feel like I know you. Grayson lost his fight on Sunday. He was resting peacefully in his mother's arms when the angels delivered him up. Words can't even begin to express how much we miss him, but that tough little man grew the hearts of so many hundreds of people, and best of all, I KNOW where he is and I will never worry about him. We wanted so much more time with him, but we will meet again some day and it will be perfect, just like his short time on this earth.
-
Chris, God's healing is perfected in your son, like it was in His Son.
You will see him again, for faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of thing not seen.
May His Spirit comfort you and your family in the days to come.
-
I cry for your broken hearts and rejoice for your willingness to give God the glory. I hurt for your loss here on this earth but know we will all see Grayson again in that heavenly home. Paul said it best when he said; To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Yet I cry with you and your family. Thanks for allowing us this time inside your family and your hearts. I have been touched from this as well. That would be HUNDREDS + ONE. ME.......Dusty

Chris,
I'm sorry I missed this...
My heart aches for your loss and the pain you will feel in Grayson's absence...
My heart also rejoices with your attitude of Gratitude for Christ's salvation and Holy presence in your midst in this time of sorrow.
May you continue to know the peace that passes all human understanding. I'm sure there will be moments, but you know the true Source of healing and power:
Keep the Son in your eyes!

Chris,
I cried when I read this. I'm so sorry for your loss. My wife and I lost our first daughter, like you and King David, we have confidence we will meet her again someday. Maybe Summer will show us around and Greyson will show you around when we finally get there.
I'll be praying for you and your family.
