Title: Hurricane Isaac is coming
Post by: awbowman on August 28, 2012, 05:38:00 PM
Can anybody say HURRICANE PARTY!

Looks like it will go right over the lease.

Not expecting REALLY bad winds, just enough to mess up the acorn crop!  So much for having a "normal" acorn crop.  Trees are LOADED this year but won't be for long.  I was looking forward to setting up on some hot feed trees all the way into January, but the acorns will not last long.  Will need to change tactics!

I heard where New Orleans is expecting as much as 20".  We'll see if the levee improvements and pumps do there job.

Guess we will see what a 150,000 gallon per SECOND pump looks like running full throttle!  That's over 20,050 cubic feet per second guys....unbelievable!

AND I heard it can only handle a 1" per hour sustained rainfall in the City.

They are now saying landfall is EAST of Grand Isle.  Maybe our acorn crop can weather the storm!  Unless it follows the coast we will get the very eastern tip of it.  I pray that the levees in New Orleans hold.  It's going to get deep over there in the next 6-10 hours.

I'm at the office for a little while.  It breezy right now, but we are expected to get a "good wind" through the area in a few hours.  The storm has shifted to the west and looks like we will get more than originally expected, but certainly not anything like we have weathered in the past.

Thanks for the prayers and we'll keep in touch.

Still at the office in Lafayette.  Isaac tracking a little more north but moving slow.  We shouldn't see much more than 40 mph winds and a good bit of rain, but the camp will see more.  Hurricanes love to follow the Atchafalaya River.

Prayers for all to weather the storm well and damage and injury to be marginal.

A buddy of mine just texted me (saved me a trip), Camp "Too Blessed to be Stressed" appears to be fine with no damage reported. Power is out, so I'll have to check the appliances Saturday. Looks like we missed the worst of it.

Thanks for all the prayers guys.  Please continue to pray the people on the coast of Louisiana and Mississippi, they took a beating.

Sorry I guess I didn't read your post too good before asking the question about the boat. I'm glad everything worked out for you. We unlatched from the well and pulled our LMRP and moved south west. I had to stay a few days over due to weather but we did good as well. Home now enjoying some time away with the family. God bless you and yours.......Dusty
