Where do I start? I believe in God and I also know that I am a sinner in His eyes. I believe Christ died for my sins & acknowledged that publicly several years ago. Now the hard part. I don't particularly enjoy reading the Bible.
When in church, my mind drifts off. I've been going to a small group with my wonderful wife and my mind drifts off when I'm there too. I'm not comfortable in small or large groups. The Pastor says we should be "growing" spiritually, but to be honest, I've not done that. No matter what I do, I don't think anything is "good enough". While I'm at it, I'm not much in to prayer either. I figure, what's going to happen - is going to happen, & there isn't much you can do about it. Looking for advice

I go through the same thing at times and I ask Dad to give me the right attitudes and motivation to do what's right. He is the Author and Finisher of our faith. That means to me that I go to Him to let Him sanctify me rather than trying to do it myself in my flesh. Amazing how my attitude and desires change. What you're feeling is unfortunately normal but that's why He died and rose for us so that it would be Him living in and through us. The good thing is that you are aware and care.
Romans 8:31-39. 31 What, then, shall we
say in response to these things? If God is for
us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not
spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how
will he not also, along with him, graciously give
us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge
against those whom God has chosen? It is God who
justifies. 34 Who then is the one who condemns?
No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that,
who was raised to life—is at the right hand of
God and is also interceding for us. 35 Who shall
separate us from the love of Christ? Shall
trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or
nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written:
“For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”
37 No, in all these things we are more than
conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am
convinced that neither death nor life, neither
angels nor demons,[k] neither the present nor the
future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor
depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be
able to separate us from the love of God that is
in Christ Jesus our Lord.

One thing that helped me out with my daily walk with Jesus and growing spiritually is listening to Christian music. Take a 30 day challenge and listen to nothing but Christian music when you listen to music. Look up any Christian radio station, one I really enjoy is K-Love. They have an app for phones so if you have a smart phone you can listen where ever you have service.
You NEED to pray. God can do anything. You can change your situation, attitude, and anything as long as you have FAITH! No doubts. Ask God for encouragement to study His word.
I will keep you in my prayers!

The thing that works for me is to read and pray out loud. as you speak it you hear it so that it will keep your mind focused. I too suffer from ADD at 54 years old. i can tell you that even if you can only go 5 mins God will honor your efforts. you have to ask Him (and mean it) to help you overcome this. The only other thing I would share with you is there is another one out there that would have you believe that you can't focus and really don't have too. So please remember Matthew 6:33 Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness,,,,,,, Dusty
