Hello all,I'm fairly new to this site--only about 6 mos-- I am not what you would call an overley religous person, but I don't know where to turn.My best friend and hunting buddy, who happens to also be my son, has landed in Rogers memorial hospital. This is a ward for the mentally ill and for those with/drug and alcohol abuse problems. He has in the past tried to commit suicide and has threatened again. He has way to many demons for a 17 yr old. Please pray for him and keep him in your thoughts. Also hug your kids when you can, before it's no longer an option.....Gary

Personally, I'm not much for being "religious" because as I age, I've come to see "religion" to be more about man's rules than God's will...
I prefer the company of spiritual people over "religious" ones.
That said, my heart goes out to you. One raises up children, tries to do right, but the world can still de-rail your best efforts.
Our world today is a place where mental health challenges abound. So many pressures, fears and challenges that in my youth, didn't exist. Prayers for your son's recovery and the right team to find that chink in his armor and empower him to find solace and healing.
May your son, come to know and rely on His Son...and rest in Him.
Thru God all things are possible. Keep the Son in your eyes!

Gary, As a father one of the hardest things you will have to face is knowing when to help and when to not enable. When to show support and when to let nature take its course. It is very difficult.
I pray for you and your son. I also like you am not overly religious but am quite spiritual.
I work with Substance Abuse patients and see an awful lot of people much like your son. Its a tough load for him and everyone around him.
He is NOT a lost soul either. I hope whatever happens it is for the best. I pray he is one of the many who learn to live a fairly normal life given their demons.
