Many of you know Ed, either personally or through his works of art. He is in desperate need of your prayers.
He was recently hospitalized with internal bleeding resulting from some sort of tumor in his esophagus. I, and several others, had a chance to see him a couple of weeks ago at Mike Yancey's shop, and he was obviously suffering.
So, please lift him, his wife, his family, and his doctors up in prayer.
Thank you.

Done! Way too many people with esophageal stuff I know personally...
Not sure what's the trend, but it is no fun for the sufferer for sure.
Prayers for a good outcome and strength to keep his spirits high and his eyes on the Son!

Thank you all for your prayers. Here is an update. Dad has a very large tumor in his stomach. He was unable to eat for weeks due to it blocking the exit from his stomach into the small intestine. A week ago yesterday he underwent surgery hoping to remove the tumor....but the surgeons determined that they could not remove it safely due to a portion extending into the esophagus. They performed a bypass attaching the small intestine to an affected portion of the stomach so that he could eat again with hopes of getting him well and sending him to an oncologist to try to treat the tumor. He was healing well and beginning to eat but has had a set back because the bypass has leaked gas into his abdomen. At this point the docs don't believe that any stomach contents have leaked but they are trying to get the pressure out of his abdomen and hoping the leak will seal itself......otherwise he will have to have surgery again.
In addition. my nephew/Ed's grandson was on his way to visit Ed when he was involved in a motorcycle accident and was airlifted to Albuquerque with a skull fracture, scapula fracture wrist fracture and rib fracture. He did regain consciousness and is expected to recover. Please continue to pray fro the family. God is not limited in what he can do for his people!

Yikes, Justin...
As the old saying goes, When it rains it pours!
I'll share a message a minister once said when things start doubling up on you, it tells you that you're drawing closer to God as Satan hates to loose even ONE, so he redoubles his efforts to sour your milk, as he tried with Job.
Given the extent of what they did to your pop, it's no wonder he's having a few setbacks. As for your Nephew, my, my...prayers for God's Grace and healing touch on both Ed and UR nephew to pull thru this to attest to God's Grace and healing power!
Keep the Son in your eyes!

Dad asked me to please let everyone know how much he appreciates the cards and letters and phone messages he has received. He isn't able to respond but you have touched his heart. Please keep praying. The docs and nurses have given him great care but they haven't given him much hope of recovery and hope is so essential in fighting cancer. He is supposed to see an oncologist Thurs.

Prayers continue for a fine ambassador for traditional archery and great guy.

PRayers continue... hopefully not the first time he's seen the oncologist thru all this...
God's will is perfect, even when HE says "NO".
Prayers for peace, healing, strength to stay the course and remain steadfast in faith.
Tell Ed to keep the Son in his eyes. Prayers for healing for the grandson as well!

Another update. Ed is now at home. Praise God! He is still getting nutrition intravenously but is at home and will start chemotherapy on Thurs. Also, I was negligent in reporting on my nephew Ben. He is doing well. He had reconstructive surgery on his hand. All the various fractures from the motorcycle accident are on the mend.

Ed is a dear friend and mentor to me. I love him like a brother and while I have never met his son Justin, I feel like I know him from conversations with Ed. Justin, our prayers are everyday for your dad. I'm a bowyer because of him.

They have developed a new drug that stops growth of cancer cells by blocking the tumors ability to use glucose to grow.Isaved it but cant find it yet it was on google newes yesterday.Stay away from chemo it doesn't work. Its all about the money all the best and god bless bob
-
sr9243 is the drug a survey conducted with doctors showed the majority would not use chemo on themselves. The success rate for chemotherapy is almost 0 and iv watched it do terrible things to people .
-
I haven't updated in a while....So here goes. No more chemo. Doctors can offer nothing but pain and nausea meds at this point. Dad is very weak and uncomfortable but maintaining a good attitude. He trusts that GOD CAN still heal him but he is ready to go home and asks for prayers that his remaining time be as comfortable as possible. Thank you all for the encouraging words and outpouring of love that you have shown to Ed. Thank you for your prayers. Despite all the difficulty and pain God has been gracious.

Prayers for the family. Sorry for the loss.

My uncle, diagnosed with terminal bone cancer took me aside and claimed "healing"...when I asked "What if not?" he just smiled, leaned close and said, "Son, even Death is God's perfect healing for I shall be made whole again i n a new body with Christ!"
Still gives me chills. He went thru a lot of pain as is the case with bone cancer, but held onto his faith!
If but I... Lord in your Mercy, Keep Ed Scott's family in you loving arms covered with your Peace that surpasses all understanding!
