Just a note to update our prayer warriors and express my personal gratitude.
The total knee replacement went fairly well mid December, and returning home alone 2 days later proved to be something of a trial.
My situation, was somewhat complicated by a 4 yr old torn hamstring on that same leg with much scar tissue and balling up of torn muscle behind that knee...which created untold discomfort they'd not anticipated... fun, fun!
Last night after 4 weeks of recovery and PT, I had one of the better night's sleep in a MONTH! I took advantage of it and slept in...that and here in NE TN, it turned frigid, so bed was the only warm spot in a house with a heat pump!
Thanks to all the prayer warriors who post & the myriad of those who read, pray, but never post!!!
I'm sure that my varied trials brought here were made easier thru your intercession and prayers!
For that, I offer my heartfelt gratitude. I've a long, long road yet to go, but I felt led to share that you've all made a difference and I've been blessed!

So glad to hear your outlook is positive. Prayers will continue for a complete recovery.

Today was a bit of a set back, but then it's predictable...I got released to drive yesterday and with rain forecast and super cold next few days into all next week, I had shingles in my yard from a fierce blow on Tuesday overnight...
Nobody around to help, so I managed to get the ladder up after running an errand in the truck, warmed my can of pitch in the house, got on the roof and replaced the blown off shingles and smutzed down a bunch of others...
Then hiked down the hollow to dump some stuff on the brush pile and back up the hill...
Holy socks, Batman... ole knee is aching today! But it's poured down rain all day and it was PT day so I'm so glad I got those minor repairs done on the roof yesterday...
I guess that is progress, don'tcha think? :) :scared:

Doc: seems like sometimes we take 3 steps forward and 2 back, but even then we've gone farther than if we took no steps at all, so yup.......that's progress. Good goin' :clapper:

Doc, glad you're able to do some things. I cringed at the part about the ladder. At this point in time, you don't want to fall from any height and land flat footed. Careful.

shick's statement X2
Careful bro, be wise in your recuperation like you tell everyone to do.

Desperate times call for desperate measures...good thing was that nobody else could help...I checked...then took a deep breath and set intermediate goals... I didn't know if I could get the ladder off the hooks and carried around to the back of the house...
I tried to take LOTS of time to think thru every angle and it went ok... surely glad I did it when it rained all next day...whew we got dumped on... all day!
There is NO WAY i'd ever want to go thru this again, so if anything felt too weird, I'd have passed...but I stepped down off ladder rungs onto low pitched roof (4-12 or less) with good leg...then just eased along bending over to repair shingles...almost tried same side to get back down, but realized I'd rather have the good leg on the ladder while I transitioned, so I switched sides... sorta scary till firmly on ladder then n o m ore then doing step exercises and I did it one step at a time, didn't bend knee to go over hand so to speak (over knee?)
I appreciate all the concern and cautions. Not trying to sound macho, just that I KNEW it had to be done and stepped out in faith using a lot of forethought...
Taking it easy today as the dampness and heavy PT yesterday, wore me out! Sleeping better too without the pain and other old man issues, so that too is a blessing... whew... still in the hole on sleep, so relish any extra...
Thanks, Guys! Blessing to all in need and THANK YOU!
