Those who follow here know our Benbow (Galen Benson) in NM has been battling some tumor in his innards for a long time...they can't totally remove it where it lies, but go in and trim periodically.
HE got on some new treatment program and after all the years of doing so well, (aside from the tumor regenerating periodically and requiring another trim) he is now anemic... he's got some sort of blood leak they cannot seem to find.
I just got a note he's in the ER (that sounds ominous right there) for more tests to try to isolate and fix the "leak"...
He asked I post this up. He's been a prayer warrior here for many years and has kept us updated on Lucca throughout her trials...
So prayers for God's hand on his team and they find the leak!

Thoughts and Prayers from CNY

He has my prayers too.
-
I'm sure he'll weigh in here when he can... I wish we(I'd) hear something...that they admitted him; that they found the leak and scheduled emergency surgery...anything.
This is where Faith comes in and Benbow has sure taught ME about faith... he's a pillar to me!

Thanks prayer family! Getting more blood now. They mixed some radioactive dye in my blood and did a scan to find the leaks but didn't find anything. I'm not surprised because it's only real bad right after the drug infusion and gets better by the time for the next infusion which is supposed to be this Monday. So I'm laying here getting spoiled by pretty nurses.
-
DAng... can't beat that other'n the unknown part of it all!
You go boy... keep the pretty nurses happy... give em my number! :0

Well looks like I go home then get more of the drug tomorrow then swallow the camera later in the week. That should let the drug caused irritation show up. Thanks for the prayers
-
oh, goodie...there's one to look forward to!
It has to be nerve-wracking to go thru the unknown, but God knows, Brother and he's watching over you, sure nuff!
Keep us posted and prayers for good things...unless the treatment takes a few days to cause the irritation... hope not!
Praying for closure to the cause and a cure for the lost blood!

Well they were looking at sending me home today but the Dr came in with the ct results and they're concerned about one of the tumors located along side the small intestine which the radiologist is concerned about. So they are having the surgery staff come for a consult and will contact my surgeon and oncologist. I don't see what they see as an issue because they're comparing scans 5 months apart. But we will see how it shakes out. So if I have to have surgery it means my surgeon will likely be able to remove the colostomy at the same time so could be a good thing.
-
Prayers continue. Stay on target!

You know you're in good God hands, Galen...
You keep faith better'n most of us, so I wish you well and strength to continue to remain vigilant and positive...
Keep the Son in your eyes, Amigo!

Well they let me out of the hospital and I had already been scheduled to see my oncologist and get another dose of the trial drug. So the surgery and GI team decided it would be best to meet with my surgeon which the hope to have set up tomorrow as well. The GI team is working with both Drs to schedule a scan done by swallowing a micro camera and have it check the whole way through. So things are going where I hoped they'd go. This way I get the trial drug and they will see it is causing my insides to be raw and bleeding. Because it starts healing up just before the next dose of the drug then gets worse right after. All of the tests that haven't been able to find any bleeding were done just before the next dose of the drug when my body had already started to heal. So I doubt I'll be having surgery anytime soon and hopefully they will find something to protect my insides from the caustic nature of the drug. Thanks for all the prayers!!!

Glad you are out of the Hospital Galen. As always continued prayers, they find a cure or the cause.
-
I sure hope they can kill the cancer, but not rip your innards to pieces in the process... so you swallow the camera and it goes all the way?
My, my... what does it use for a light?
Best of luck... hope things take a positive turn really soon, brother!
-
Doc believe it or not it has 2 lights and is the size of a large capsule. 1" long if I remember correctly. Glad its not a graflex with the big flash. :) only us oldies will remember those.
-
When they did my shoulder surgery many moons ago, they took arthroscopic pics inside better then my Sr. Picture...
Yeah, you might feel the old style flash bulbs too...they got HOT! :scared:

Good morning
Still feeling good other than being out of shape from spending the last two months either on my back or butt. Stool color is brown and it appears the bleeding is subsiding . Yesterday I dug a 3 foot deep hole, dug up a tree, and transplanted it so doing well. I'm not experiencing the weakness or dizziness like I have been. Maybe my body is adjusting to the nivo. Hope so.
-
Gracious, Galen... Let's n ot get too crazy now!
When does your surgeon & Oncol give you their input?
Hang in there... glad you're feeling a bit spry for all that you've been thru!
Keep the Son shining!

My surgeon will contact me Monday so we will see what she thinks. Plus I want them to do another blood work up to see how that looks before I jump back into a hospital bed.
Another good day, stripped and waxed the family room floor. Still stiff and sore from the tree planting but I haven't done any work for so long this old body gets wimpy fast.

Well praise God and thank you for your prayers!!! It seems God took care of the internal bleeding and the way may help others on this drug. I have had high acid in my stomach and have been using over the counter antacids for years after a prior insurance company would no longer pay for a prescription drug. While in the hospital they gave me protonix and the residing Dr wrote a prescription for me. Our current insurance co covered it and now evidence of bleeding is leaving, my energy level is almost back to normal, and I no longer have the dizzy near fainting issues.
So Thank You Prayer Warriors!!!
-
How about that!?!!!
Tip of the hat to yet another insurance entity with greed as their mantra! Alas, God handled it!
Now if only enough would turn back to our Christian roots in this country, maybe he'd heal America!
Congrats, Galen... Another medical miracle of God's design! Yea!!! :bigsmyl:

Well Praise update. The bleeding has stopped and my blood numbers have stabilised and will be increasing. So continuing to speak God's Word at the issue and learn to let His Word rule my heart.
-
Praises indeed!!! GReat news, Galen!!! Thanks for sharing!

Ben I think of you often even though we don't know each other. My wife found out she had cancer in late 2012 and your bravery helped me during the hard times with her . Just seeing your post on trusting in God even when times were bad gave me a rock to stand on for her . We just did her 6th PET scan and all have been good so the Doc. said she wouldn't have to do anymore PETS . Just know that you are making a difference in people's lives and we are praying for you.

Mike I am so thankful that your wife is well, praise God. All I can do is share what God has and is doing for me. He is faithful and if we can get past our taught religion and get into a relationship with Him we will find the freedom He gave so much to buy for us.
-
Galen, your modesty is only surpassed by your deep, abiding Faith...
You are an inspiration to many as Mike said!
Thank you for your witness!
-
Dave my modesty comes from knowing where I've come from and what I deal with every day. My past would make you blush. But when I was looking up at the bottom Jesus reached into my heart and put His Love there. And it changes me daily for the better and I'm the beneficiary.
-
"...and I'm the beneficiary."
We all are, Galen, we all are!!!
