my dad is 93. WWII vet. He has aspirational pneumonia and a U.T.I.  Mean and cussing today.
Didn't know me or my brother.

For all:

Sent this to Dan via email, but having worked in a SService agency dealing with older adults, I learned that a UTI will cause older folks (?) to go loopy overnight...act like they have dementia.

Dan knows his dad has a UTI so that is likely the reason for "not knowing" his kids.

All others, if an aging parent suddenly starts to act like they have dementia, demand a UTI BLOOD test culture, not a urinalysis as the UTI often doesn't show in the urine test...

Too many older Americans get stuck in a dementia ward when a UTI is the culprit.  FWIW...

As I told Dave , my dad has dementia  already.
The UTI made it worse. He has to have a swallow test to see how much is going into his lungs.

dan,

My dad was on that gruel stuff the last 8-9 months of his life...he'd ask me what it was as I was feeding him, I"d ask what it tasted like, his comment was that of a farm boy...

I told him it looked like that too, so maybe that was what it was!  He'd just shake his head... but he ate it!

Brings back a lot of melancholy memories, Dan.

Prayers up for you and yours!

Keep the Son in your eyes!

Dad is back at the home but very weak. Doc said he will get the pneumonia again, and is wearing down badly. I pray the Lord will take him gently soon.
