Title: Hug your Kids
Post by: Amberjack on December 22, 2016, 07:13:00 PM
Hi folks,

Just lost my Dad after a lengthy illness.

I got a chance to say goodbye and hug him one last time before the end, for which I'm very grateful.  My advice for all is, don't wait to tell someone you care about them. Do it now. Once they're gone it's too late.

This Christmas will be a little quieter and a little sad for us but I know Dad is celebrating with his Saviour.

God Bless and Merry Christmas to All!

Jack

Many of us have had that experience, and it's good advice to heed whether the intended is young or old. Nobody is given an insight on time, we just take it for granted.

God tell us to love as He loves us; Hard to follow with some folks, but if it were ez, everyone would do it!

May God's peace that passes understanding rest on you and your family, Jack!

Keep the Son in your eyes!

How true is your observation. Once gone, it is too late to say all the things you feel. The last time I saw my dad, I don't remember if I told him I loved him. That has bothered me a lot since.

Since then, I have made absolute sure to tell my kids and grandkids I love them. Also, I lost my mother in August. I knew she was failing, and you can be sure I told her I loved her. She said, "I love you, too. You are a good son." What sweeter  thing could a son ever hear? Mom died the next day. Let us all make sure that we regularly remind our loved one how dear they are. But especially at Christmas time, let us reflect on the blessings we enjoy all through the year, and thank God for these wonderful times.

Amberjack, I understand exactly how important that final good-bye was for you. I'm glad you were able to let him know how you felt. God bless.

Thanks for sharing and sorry for your loss.  A great reminder to not take anything for granted and to let our loved ones know of our love for them often!

Sam,

I choose to believe that once our parents and others stand before Christ and are made perfect in every way, they KNOW...

It is for US that we acknowledge our love for others... and I'm sure in this realm it surely makes their passing over a lot easier knowing and hearing!

Peace on Earth... Our Savior is about to be Born!

May God rest his soul.  Prayers for you and your family.  Dad is comforted in God's warming arms.

First year without my Dad also.  Very tough time, but the kids help pull me through.

Merry Christmas, rejoice in HIS birth.

Losing a parent is like losing an anchor while at sea. Even if it is foreseen you have trouble staying on course for a while. Sounds like your faith and Dad's will lead to safe harbor.
Prayers for Peace.
