Title: african hunting costs
Post by: moose1915 on March 09, 2005, 10:05:00 AM
hey guys, heres my deal...

i am in need . gotta hunt africa! i am 32 years old, and have decided on a 8 year plan to save up, get info and do a 30day excursion. this will be my birthday present and adventure of a life time all in one.

i know you can't take into account inflation, law and permit changes, etc... but i was wondering what you think a good "baseline estimate" is on a trip of this magnitiude? i would like to do plains game and bigger stuff, along with some wingshooting too.

i am just trying to feel this out so i know how much to put away per week in my "401k matress"

thanks for any insight you may have !

moose, you don't say if you are married or have children. If not, I would suggest you borrow the money go now and have the next eight years to pay for it instead. I waited until my kids were through college before I went and I was 51 before I got to go.

well Jack, i am married with 3 boys (3, 9 and 10) , and when i go it will very likely be a family trip, as we all hunt . My boys were raised in the bush (of NY!)

i own my own business, so i have  a pretty flexible schedule, but will need time to put away money, as college loans will be a factor, too.

thanks!
