Has anyone seen the videos and DVD's offered by Dries Visser Safaris? They are advertised as hours of bowhunts in Africa, so I am assuming that the hunts are not all traditional, but what about content and "educational" quality..
here is the link Dries Visser Safaris DVD and videos (http://www.dvisser-safaris.co.za/layout1/orderspecial.asp)
I have read that they are one of the outfits that the Wensels go to, so that in itself is an endorsement.

I have all of them and have watched each one about 40 times. I leave for a 2 week hunt there in 9 days. They are all very good in my opinion, you get lots of info about the different animals, their habits, what constitutes a good one and where to shoot them for best results. The one DVD that Whitetail Institutes put out has pictures in it from the book the perfect shot which is nice but it also shows people shooting animals with crossbows that have red dot sights on them. That was hard to take but easily skipped over. The majority of the hunters are using compounds in the videos but each one has several traditional shooters on them and they all do well. They show the good shots with the bad and the methods they use to track and recover animals. Some of the shots are dead center paunch and the still find them. The speed of the animals jumping the string is unreal and very well illustrated with several slow motion sequences. Sorry for the rambling, I guess I could have just left it at I thought they were good but I am running on only 3 hours of sleep since 4 pm on the 8th. Joseph

Thanks for the info. At the price listed thet seem to be a good buy, if there is some info other than jsut kill shots.
Joseph, you need to get some sleep, otherwise you'll be sleeping on your hunt in Africa.
How would you tell us that you didn;t get a shot at a Gemsbok because you were sleeping and the snoring scared them off!
Godspeed on you upcoming hunt.

No sleeping in the blinds Joseph!
The videos are good but my concern was the crossbow kills too. You gotta realize though that African's don't necessarily share our passions and crossbows are not a big deal to them. As far as that goes,,,I don't really like to watch a bunch of compounders go at it either
