I'm heading to SA in April and will probably be taking my TD with me. More for a visit than a hunting trip but... :)
I'm under the impression that there is no permit required to bring a bow into SA but does any one know if I'll need one to go through Heathrow (London)?
I'm flying British Air from Vancouver to London to Jo'burg and would hate to end up "donating" my bow to some over zealous public official.
thanks,
RC

No permits required anywhere.

Tuffcity:
I flew into Johannesburg last August. No permits required. Be prepared to be asked for a "Tip" by customs officials before being able to claim your bow on arrival and again before leaving for home. Have $5-10.00 US ready and you will not have any problems.

Thanks for the info.

I'm taking my one piece PGA widow with me. The case is barely over the "inch" limit for the airlines, so it looks as though they will get me for an xtra 100$ to take a one piece bow. Will Delta charge me the xtra cash coming in both directions?

Dont need a permit, adviseable to put signage on your bowcase saying 'Archery Equipment' You wont have any problems.

I just heard back form Delta. My "archery" one piece recurve bowcase is INCLUDED in my free baggage limit of two checked and one carry one bag... OH YEAH, I am taking my PGA to Africa.
