i`m coming back to shooting/hunting after almost twenty years. i still shoot my first recurves, a bear grizzly 45# and a bear grizzly 60# circa mid to late 60`s. my question is what are the advantages,if any of a long bow over a recurve?any opinions and or advice would be welcomed. thanks don

I think you will find that the newer bows, recurve or longbows, shoot faster and are lighter in weight, I'm talking more about your more high end bows made with foam cores and carbon. I have a couple of Morrison, and A&H's both longbows. But I can shoot the older bows just as well. The newer arrows out now, are a big help, mostly for me carbon arrrows, they last a lot longer than woods or aluminum, I still shoot woods but mostly carbons. There's a lot of great bowers out there now, and they make great shooting and great looking bows. Glad to hear your back into shooting.

which do you "shoot" better? more accurately? most fun? usually varies, some prefer longbow some recurve.

Don, Longbows are usually lighter and tend to be quieter. There has been a lot going on with longbow design over the last ten years or so, with some performing right up there with the recurves now. You will probably get more responses if you move this question over to the PowWow forum and you can find similar threads with the search.
Where in IL are you? I have a few different longbows you are welcome to check out. Rick
