This is the only video I was able to get from my May trip. I dropped my camera the very first time I went up a tree. :knothead:

Congrats on another mountain reedbuck. For sure...one of the more difficult animals to get a crack at in Africa. I shot one last year...and was ectacic! I think I was more happy than when I killed a Kudu the prior two years! The smaller antelope really interest me. I have never seen an animal act more like a whitetail than mountain reedbuck and bushbuck.
-
Wowzers!!
-
So how far did she go??
-
What broadhead did u use?
-
I believe Marty shoots Silver Flame's with the big 1 7/8" cutting dia.
Great shooting Buff!!!
-
Remember that rage B-head commercial ....
'Gaping Wound Channel' ... and
'Its like trowing an axe through an animal'.
Buff has shown us all here what a sharp 2-blade can do out of a well tuned stickbow! Pretty darn impressive!!!
Good shooting Buff!
-
Really impressive.
-
The way that doe "jumped the string" is really amazing, what a quick reaction time! Couldn't even see it without your slow motion replay. Thank you.

What aussieman8 said!!!

YEEOUCH!!

Incredible!

Anyone else notice how much that critter looked like a Texas whitetail?
Great video...too bad about your camera.

-
Wow....that looks like a tunnel!
-
Sure sliced her up.
-
this should be a commercial for silver flames, awesome kill.
-
I didn't see a bloodtrail????
-
ouchh ! good shoot ! Is that what they call a mountain red buck ?
-
Wow, that's impressive... :scared:
-
man that was awesome
-
yes it is a Mountain reed buck
-
I'm going to be the guy that says, "you didn't get much penetration with that big broadhead." Sure it left a gaping wound and you recovered her but I think I'd opt for something that might penetrate better. Just my opinion.
Congrats on the kill.
-
passed thru the doe and hit the bricks
-
I'm gonna be the guy that says.....'it blew right through'.
Seems like there has been some sort of 'evolution' lately for deer type animals that they have become armor plated in the last few years. They are noting but a grocery bag full of shaving cream and a few tinker toys and one ball joint....and there is no guarantee you will get through the ball joint with any head.
I had TWO gaping wounds on this bear with the same exact head.....AND a great blood trail.

Thats funny right there. Never heard it put that way :biglaugh:
-
I agree Terry, deer are lightly constructed..
In the video it appeared that the arrow was stopped quickly by the doe.. Buff indicated that was not the case.. Bricks are hard to penetrate regardless of bow weight or broadhead..
-
Sure thing Pat
Guess you missed seeing all the hair flying out the other side.
-
I did miss the exit...
I also shouldn't have been so quick to
"take exception"...
Thanks!
-
No worries Pat....it sure don't surprise me that a head that wide would have blown through. Seen too many deer blown through with my Z Detla 4 blades like they were made of paper. As long as I never hit the off ball socket or solid leg bone on the way out, they don't even seem to slow down.
That head might be wide, but those Silver Flames are sho-nuff sharp.

From the mid 70's until the mid 80's I hunted with an 83# Damon Howatt recurve, 2219's and Zwickey Deltas.. I don't recall a deer ever stopping one of those arrows. Powerful medicine indeed..
Lets HUNT !!

I don't hunt bricks. They don't look like they eat well.
-
Another good thread Buff. Never had one problem w/2-blades for decades now. Razor sharpen on my machines in less than a minute.
