Title: Susquehanna Bows??
Post by: Harpman on December 23, 2007, 12:26:00 PM
Hello!...I just won a Susquehanna longbow on E-bay, it's a mild reflex-deflex, and 66" long...Does anyone on here have any experience with these longbows?...I think that I shot a Susquehanna recurve a long time ago at the GLLI, or Cloverdale..This bow looks alot like a Robertson, or Monarch..Any info will be appreciated..Thanks in advance, and Take Care!..Harperman

I have a Susquhenna Long bow. It is a "Hill Style". 66" 53# @ 28". It seems to be a well built bow. It has three laminations of wood between clear glass. The riser appears to be cocobolo, but I'm not sure. I hunt with it sometimes . It is a very light bow, weight wise easy to carry. It has a little bit of "thump" when shot which I kinda like.
I don't know who made it, I would like some more information as well.

Cheapshot...I reckon that I will have to dig through all  My old Traditional Bowhunter magazines, and see if I can find Susquehanna's old ads..I know that they advertised in Trad Bowhunter, I just think that it was early to mid 90's....There has been ALOT of smaller bowyers come and go since the late 80's, early 90's, and some darn good ones, at that..Green Mt.,And Elburgs Archery to name two that come to mind..Take Care...Harperman

The company was located in Hummelstown, PA.  They used to advertise in Traditional Bowhunter Magazine in the 90’s. I don’t know much about them other than that they made a great ASL.  I’m doing a little research on them and I think I found their old business address, which is in my town.  If I find out more, I will post it here.

Ah, Bud, that was a good year.  Everything was rocking until 2008.  We had the best St Jude Auction ever that year.  :campfire:

Susquehanna longbows were made near Hummelstown Pennsylvania. When I bought my two back in the mid-1990s the shop was a converted garage and the bowyer, and his son were making them. They were an outstanding longbow, very well made. Sorry but I don't remember the bowyer's name. If you have some old Traditional Bowhunter Magazines from back in the 1990s you could properly find their advertisement.

My research so far hasn’t been productive.  I emailed TBM and they were unable to locate any articles about the company.  I also checked with a few shops in Hummelstown and no one seems to have heard of the company.  The lack of information out there is making me even more interested in learning more.

If anyone has some Traditional Bowhunter Magazines from the mid-90’s, would you please check to see if there are any ads from Susquehanna Longbows?  I’m trying to find their address. Thanks!
