For those of you who have harvested an eland could you please let me know what your set was/is and what you would change?

Killed mine with a 55lb. Dakota Recurve, 670 grain grizzly stick shaft and a two blade eclipse head.  Arrow penetrated through and stopped just under the hide on the other side.  Bull went down in sight.  Shoot them STRAIGHT UP THE LEG!  Vitals are far forward.  Honestly, I know I was pushing the limits by shooting such a huge animal with only 55lbs. but you had to be there.  Things were absolutely perfect.  The bull was 12 yards or so away perfectly broadside and my PH gave me the nod.  Taking an eland was one of the highlights of my hunting career.

Thanks,  besides a wart hog, the eland is the only animal I really want.  I know they are big just wanted to know if special equipment might need to be considered.  I have 31 inch draw so that should help.

I have a great friend that shot a eland cow at 16 yds broadside with a 47# @ 28" cornering away.  He stated that he had a pass through using a 2 blade zwickey.
This is no lie, just great placement of an arrow.

I have taken two, both a bull and a cow and both were shot with a 54 pound Black Widow. The bow did the job and the cow only went 30 yards. They are a great animal to hunt.

I took a large cow at about 14 yards.  Cedar arrows, 2 blade Magnus 125 gr: total about 550. Wallace Royal longbow at 57#. Very good shot right up the leg with a torrent of blood and went down in 30 yards and less than ten seconds.

I used a 63lb Robertson recurve, 2117 with 125grain Razorcap. Great penetration up to feathers.

I never had the opportunity toshoot a very large bull,
this young bull is a free range spot and stalk harvest in southern Namibia: shot at 30 yards, complete pass through arrow exiting at the base of the neck. Bow is a marked 64#@ 31", broadhead is Big Jim 300 GR 1,5" wide 3 blade, total 805 gr arrow

This old female was taken in South Africa with a 58# at my draw Fedora longbow and again with the Big Jim Broadhead for a 680 gr arrow, arrow went through the chest cavity sticking deeply in the opposite
rib
