I am starting to save for my Africa trip. I am wondering how much money will be enough. I will be bringing my wife with me as a non hunter. I am thinking 7-10 days. Would like to have some none hunting activities for her and maybe a sight seeing day for me to go with. I was thinking SA but not set on that. Kudu and gemsbock are on my list with 1 or two others to decide on. Although I would like to do some spot and stalk hunting this will probably not be that trip.
I am guessing airfare will be about $2000 each. So how much am I looking at? I am hoping 2016 or 2017. Depends on estimated cost.
I was thinking Driess Viesser. I am sure I spelled that wrong but any insight would be appreciated.

Well i would guess 4000.to5000. in trophy fees and around 2500. each for accomadations and 2000. apiece for flights.around14000. total would be a ballpark figure.My guess might be on the low side. Better start saving. I 've been saving for a year and half. two months left to go.

I was thinking 15 to 20 thousand dollars. What is the best way to find airfare deals.

I went to africahunting.com and got alot of information about planning my trip and there's a travel agent that highly recommended.

Once you settle on a Concession Operator they can answer many things, including:
1. Cost of daily hunting $250-390 is common for plains game.
2. Trophy Fees -- Kudu $1,500-2,500 for example.
3. Tips for service: 5-6 people, $20/day per hunter
4. Ship and Dip: $600-800
5. Airfare -- Mine is $2,020 from LEX to Johannasburg
6. Local lodging if not going directly to hunt.
7. Non-hunter often about $100/day.
8. Sight-seeing -- no idea about that
This will be my first trip so I am NO EXPERT. However, I'm extremely cost-conscious and frugal (except for buying bows) and I'm keeping good track of the costs. Of course taxidermy is going to be extra.
My son and I are going in a couple months. A friend is going with us. It will cost my friend about $5,000 + airfare to take 5 animals. My son and I are working a few days on this trip so our costs are different.

There are a lot of different prices and hunts, depending where you go. I'd look at Botswana, South Africa and Namibia. I'll send you a PM.

You should have a good trip. My wife and I both hunted for ten days and took about nine animals total and had them tanned there and had the skulls cleaned over there. After everything was said and done we had about 18000 into our trip.

We have been on the Dave Ramsey budget and paid off our van yesterday. Getting together the rest of our emergency fund over the next couple months. Then I can start stacking africa money up. It's terrible being excited for something two years out.
