Its been to long since Iv been back home, the flicker in my soul is getting brighter and the ancient beat of the drums of Africa are getting louder by the day... Nigel and I are planning a backpack hunt and it can not come quick enough, with no date set just yet we'r dreaming of the wild sounds of the night and the adventures that the sunrise might bring.

Nigel is in search of the 'monarch of the thorns' I was fortunate to kill a magnificent bull at the end of 2011 walk and stalk at 30m. Next time Nige will be behind the String.
Hope this bull is still out there...

The witty wildebeest, these things can be humbling on foot, they are wired and have a keen eye, you have to be on the top of your game to get into bow range on these beasts. I slipped in front of a feeding herd, they made there way passed, can you slip and arrow in there...

I passed...better chances are around the next thorn tree...
Place your shot.

With that in the works, place an Arrow here as well...  (http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h101/tradtusker/IMG_2894_zps9071d7ec.jpg)

Watch out, at your foot, you'l need a new set of "budgie smugglers" if that Baboon spider jumps at you! It has young ones.

Thanks for that mate... As per the norm, wonderful photos. I am off to Namibia in August for my first hunt. I was speaking to a fella in Zim on doing a back pack hunt there but just when we get to talking about prices etc I don't here from him. Tis a shame really... In my opinion back pack hunting in Africa would be in the top ten bucket list hunts out there.

Cheers again mate,

ak.

Andy, excellent! Always dreaming of getting back.

What's the Polokwane place like for bushbuck and kudu?

I thin I know of the guy that used to do the backpack hunts, would have been good.

Hope you have a great trip out there Mike!

North of Polokwane are some great bushbuck and Kudu Ben. Most places with some dry or semi dry sandy rivers are the place to look in that area for those two

Nick Murray is still doing thos backpack hunts. Email and service in his area not good at best of time.

Best way to find Nick is contact Sally Brown at Zim Proff Hunters Assoc and she will find him for you. Ever since Bob screwed up the country, internet service is spotty at best. Al, my guess is Nick's system crashed at some point and he lost all contact info. I know they no service at all for over 6 months a year or so ago. The guys I know over there say he is still at it and doing well.
