Title: Bushbuck anyone...
Post by: Al Kidner on August 25, 2013, 05:05:00 AM
Hi guys,

Just wanting to know if anyone has stalked Bushbuck at all? I was talking to an African lad I work with and he mentioned they were hard to hunt as well as dangerous when hit and the tracking job can turn nasty on you.

Love to hear some stories...

Cheers,

ak.

I am just back from Zimbabwe where i stalked and shot an old bush buck at 20 mètres the first day. I shot the animal facing me bedded on a dry river bed side after wallking down the river bed. I got a pass through with a very wide and heavy 3 blade bh and was " spot on " latéral to the neck..
Both  the PH and i were very comfident....after 30 minutes hidden in the river bed bottom  we went for the tracking sure to find the critter within 50 m. We followed a massive blood track for 60-70 m and then nothing more as if the animal  had disapeared, we found human tracks there and PH and trackers thought the critter could have been stolen and bagged by poachers. That seemed to me completly incredible but that´s how it turned. So my little expérience Is ending there     :(

Gee Laurent... That is a bummer big time. Sounds like Africa though, sadly.
