Thought I post a brief build along, I know I get something from every build along posted and its fun to see how every one
else is doing it :)
Most of what I do here with the BBO is from Dean Torges video "Hunting the Bamboo backed Bow" I highly recommend it.
I have already started on the bow and will post pics. on my site as I go.

I own one of Dan`s BBO`s and can honestly say the pics dont do the bows justice..They shoot as good as they look..

I just received a nice osage slat from Murray Gaskins and I'm about ready to try and make my first BBO ala Torges directions in his tape. I do have a question about tapering. I understand the part about tapering the bamboo. But I'm unclear on tapering the osage slat prior to glue up. Should I taper the slat on the glue line side and then reserve the tapering on the belly side for tillering step? Hope that makes sense.
Thanks,
Steve

Steve,That makes perfect sense to me LOL. I taper on the belly side,Measure out about 1/2" from the end of handle area, where the fade ends. this way you still have a flat back and a flat area where you will glue up your handle on the belly side.
Hope that made sense LOL

Looks great.

Steve, taper the belly side.

KC and John, thanks for the tapering info. That part has always been a little confusing to me. Thanks for the great pics too KC, they are really helpful.
Many Thanks

Hey Guys:
Have not had much time to work on this bow, but here is an update to where she is now.
Bow is about ready for final sanding and applying dye and spraying fullerplast. Came in a little under weight, was going for 55# @ 28" and will be about 48-50# when broken in. Will post pictures of finished bow when I get back from vacation in a few weeks.
