This is dang ugly.It is a culmination of a lot of different styles of bows.
Snakey pyramid bend in the handle static nonstatic sinew backed penobscot brush bow.Try saying that fast!Nothing that looks like it would even shoot an arrow let alone be quick or shock free.Let me tell you this little yella booger bow is quick, quiet and has no handshock.56"ntn 45#@28" and it's something no self respecting selfbowyer would even consider saying that he made it,let alone use it in public. That's why I think I will keep and use this one myself.

I NEVER SAID I WAS NORMAL!!!
-
DANG, that is one UGLY bow.......
I LIKE IT!!!!!!!!
-
Being normal is way overrated. Hmmmm bow looks like a work of art to me :)
rusty -rube goldberg- Craine
-
Abie-Normal I'd call her :bigsmyl:
Linc that bow is awesome, I ain't going to say a thing about the tiller buddy, I can only imagine how difficult that was.
-
Thanks :bigsmyl: I'm sure it will get some strange looks when people see it, but I can't wait to see the look of surprise when they shoot it.
I forgot to mention, shoot off the hand. Can be shot from either hand, right or left.
-
Thanks Dano. It was a bugger for tillering. The grip area is actually almost a medium wrist.Tiller isn't great but the limb timing is almost dead on.Go figure?
-
"Wildthang. She makes my heart sang."
-
I tried being normal once. Made me feel weird.
:knothead:
Uh...hmmm... That sure is an interesting bow. :bigsmyl:
-
Nope, normal is not a descriptor for that bow, but, that is a cool product of a creative mind
-
crazy man crazy
-
I like it. Perhaps it would be possible to mount a third smaller bow on top of the smallest one, and call it a triple Penobscot. Bue--.
-
Wow - these winter months are really hard on Linc, aren't they? ;) Great acheivment, Linc.
-
woooooooooooohooooooooo nice bow so the question that hasn't been asked what are the specs?
Richie
-
Bue,I had thought about that.Maybe I'll give it a try when I can draw higher weights more comfortably. :bigsmyl:
Bernie, You should try winters up here in New York.
I had some other ideas for this bow but I couldn't figger out how to get them to work.Right now I'm putting silk backings on it.After that I'll be putting horn overlays on the tips. :wavey:
-
Wowser. Good for you Linc.
-
Richie.56"ntn on the main bow.36"ntn on the back bow.Ever try making 8 1/2" flemish twist strings? :knothead: The back bow is 5/8" at the widest and the main is around 1 3/8 tapering down to 7/16" at the tips. Both are flat bellied.
-
Absoulutely amazing Linc. Far, far from being ugly, just amazing.
David
-
Beauty is in the eye of.......Linc?
I like it Linc, and I also applaud your efforts.Looks like more work than I care to tackle!
-
I feel like Dr.Frankenstien with this creation.Except all the parts didn't go in the right location. :bigsmyl:
-
How in the world do you figure your learning curve took a step back? You got a very complicated design to shoot, that's a major accomplishment dude!!
-
Cool bow my friend...nice work. That design is on my to do list one of these daze. What kind of plans ya got for the finish?
Nice work man...
Sparky
-
Linc,
That bow is awesome. I'm infatuated with that design and hope to make one soon enough.
What kind of wood did you use?
Clint
-
Very Impressive. Talent and innovation. Cool.
-
I'd shoot myself
Tedd
-
Awesome job there Linc!
Terry
-
:scared: WOW!! It's official, I have seen it all now. Linc, that is an awesome bow. I love the character it has. Good job my friend.
-
Thanks guys. The bow was made from PA osage.Main bow is a belly split that had it's issues with windchecks. The back bow was a sliver (toothpick is more like it).
Sparky,I glued on some silk backings yesterday.Today I'll be glueing on some horn tip overlays on the main bow and paint the silk, then put a polyureathane finish.
-
I was scared looking at those pics.
I think it is awsome.
-
I changed my mind about the horn tip overlays and the painting.Looks pretty cool the way it is.I'll have to let it get good and dry before putting a finish on it.
-
I'd shoot myself
Tedd
:bigsmyl:
-
Linc only three bags of gold dust dust to take to the dump this week,or is that fire startin fuel.
-
Ray,That's fire starting fuel.I have a few more boxes of gold dust around somewhere.
Thank you Killie. :bigsmyl: I don't search for the perfect stave,I just do the best I can with what I have.I've begged, borrowed and traded for the osage that I have and I'm not going to waste any if I can help it.Funny, some people say I have no imagination.
They've never seen some of the concoctions that I've come up with.
-
Killie,If you ever publish your "Book of Ambiguosities" Could I have an autographed copy?
-
Nice one buddy!
But it appears that you've got a whole lotta time on your hands!!!! :knothead: and Rachels being transfered to Upstate for a new kidney!
-
You are number one on my list, Linc!
~another one from the book!
Killdeer
-
Lee,I don't really have that much time.Took me over a month with a little here and a little there just to get it to this stage.Glad to hear Rachel will be here instead of out a state.Give my best to Cheryl. :wavey:
-
nice bow and i have to agree with trashwood being normal is way over rated
-
I know your work schedule has been brutal! You must of been burning a lot of midnight oil.
That is an unusual one!!!! I can't wait to see it!
I"ll be sure to tell Cheryl!
-
Oh my!!! thats a dooser there aint it there linc? All I have to say is it is art. if it works or no it is art.
-
looks like my old Onieda strike Eagle, but prettier!
-
Wow Linc not sure what to say..first congrats on getting a shooter. Secondly whatever you ate before you thought that one up, you should delete from your diet ha ha
Seriously that is cool in an unusual way and you say it shoots hard and fast with no handshock? Amazing. How dry is the sinew? It may go up in poundage yet if it's only a month old.
-
Mickey,It's not my diet, must be the drugs I'm on. :bigsmyl: I sinewed both about a month ago.I'm hoping it gains a few pounds.
You think that's something,I had a brain fart on my 45 min drive home from work.I hope it works and I think it should but will take some time to figure out how to do it."That's all I have to say about that".I'll leave you all hanging on this one. :bigsmyl:
-
Linc's gettin to be a real tease you know :bigsmyl:
-
Yep he sure is!!!!!!!!!!
-
I was hoping you would notice. :bigsmyl: :wavey: :wavey:

I shot Whatchamacallit at Tollgate Sunday. I must have shot over 100 arras and had it strung for about 6 hours. It had about an 1" of string follow and came right back in 15 or 20 mins.It shot better than I did.LOL.Quick,quiet and was a joy to shoot. The arrows really hit with authority. My actual draw was 29" at roughly 49#.It did not stack at all and I figure that's real good for a 56" NTN bow.Needless to say I'm very happy with the overall performance of this ugly little bow. :bigsmyl: :bigsmyl: :bigsmyl:
I even have witnesses!! Some also dared to shoot this yella booger bow. :bigsmyl:
-
Cool Linc, ugly ain't bad :bigsmyl: Congrats on the shooter buddy.
-
Well then Linc, you will just have to bring her to the jam,so we can decide for ourselves, about how ugly it is?
I personally think it's a cool bow Bud!
-
That is not ugly, Linc. That is beautiful. I love it. Jawge
-
I got the pleasure of caressing her sweetness.
Linc has got to show you all the finished pic.Very cool, amazed with small grip and shot with next to no handschock, she's a keeper.
-
I saw this posted on another primitive archery group months ago. The pic had no explination and I thought it was a joke. I about lost it when I saw this post tonight. Anyone rcognize the artists name?
http://img155.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img155&image=penobscotbow9ko.png
-
I'll try to get some finished pics tonight.
Osagetree,Not a joke.Penobscot bows have been around for a long time.Ironfist is making them all the time. When it comes to Penobscot bows,Ironfist is Da Man!!!
My intent with this one was to make one with a lot of character and to also try out a few things. I just can't seen to make replica's.I always "take a road less travelled".LOL.Must be the rebel in me. :bigsmyl: :wavey:

The main bow is backed with a silk dress and the small bow is backed with a silk scarf.Did a rush job on the leather handle wrap.I'll have to re-do it.
-
You can dress her up... :bigsmyl:
-
Buddy, you know since you put a dress on the bow. You have to change it's name!
Since it hits hard and doesn't stack. You should call it "Yes Dear"
-
Purty Purty Purty, we need more pictures. This is your finest work yet Linc.
-
Killie,Yup, all dressed up and nowhere to go.LOL.
Thanks Lee,It's to late.I had already wrote the name on it.
Thanks Dano. You are to kind.I don't know about my best work yet but it sure was the most labor intensive.
-
Ok..no offense Linc...but that thing somehow reminds me of my complicated and neurotic ex-wife! :bigsmyl:
Twisted
purdy in a dress
hits with authority
Snakey...
Hmmmm...
-
LMAO Doc Nock....that's funny!!
Linc, I can assure you that NO deer you shoot with it will EVER care what it looks like.
That, sir is one UNIQUE bow....good on ya!!!
Kyle
-
Linc,
Congrats on a fine shooter. Thanks for bringing her to Tollgate and letting us test drive her. Nice job on this "project"
-
Attaboy, Linc. She's even purtier in person. Honestly, so light and frail, yet tough as nails. Like I said on the Tollgate thread, she's a shooter. Good job.
-
Thanks for the kind words. :bigsmyl:
-
geeesh Linc, don't know how I missed this thread, but I can see that I'm gonna hafta stop over and give that thing a thorough inspection!!
