My string trackers are handmade from top grain tanned leather and are side mounted on the bow.
I cut these out from my own pattern, stitch & rivet them up, with extra stitches in wear spots. Add the brass button stud for rear access flap, then put in the hard rock maple front with brass pins, and finally add waterproofing coat (natural wax, oil blend).
Then I make up a marine grade elastic shock cord for mounting. No expense spared because these are meant to last a life time.  Look great and work great. Now I just need hunting season to open back up.
