I was messing around shooting in my basement and for some reason my bow is quieter shooting cock feather in than it is out. I have bareshafted the bow/arrow combo and it is all OK but the noise difference is readily noticeable. Not sure what the sound is but is seems loud indoors. I know the bottom feather shows wear after awhile shooting CFO but surely a feather rubbing wouldn't make much noise. Anyway, has anyone else noticed anything like this?

I prefer mine cock feather up. But do get better clearance cock feather in rather than out...Mike

I'm RH and when I shoot RW feathers I shoot cock feather in and with LW I shoot cock feather out.Seems to give me the best clearence. On my wood arrows with RW I shoot cock feather up.
-
I shoot mine what ever way it nocks. I have no difference in flight or either way. Shoot all white feathers.
-
I started shooting cockfeather in over the summer and really like it. haven't really noticed any noise difference.
I started doing it after ready a post here my ryan rothaar

I am right handed and shoot left wing feathers CFO and right wing CFI. The feathers cut my hand when I shoot right wing CFO. Right wing CFI seem to fly better also. Left wing I can tell no difference in flight CFI or CFO. And the feathers dont cut my hand eather way with left wing. Don't notice any difference in sound eather way, eather wing.

I shoot RW CFI. I can't explain why, but I get far better flight & what appears to be extra speed since I switched! With one of my bows, there is a very noticeable speed gain by shooting CFI. Anyone care to try & explain this one!!! :D
-
I agree with Chortdraw, only my feathers are all yellow :D :D
-
Shoot CFI often, or 4 fletched any way it nocks!
-
I used to shoot with it out, but last couple years I see no difference.
-
I started shooting RW CFI and love it. With the smaller diameter carbon arrows the feathers were hitting my hand hard when shooting CFO. Even drew blood a few times. Also when I paper tuned the arrow flight was much better CFI.
-
Once I get my bow tuned well it doesn't seem to matter. I normally shoot cock feather out though. Just like Big Dave, all yellow with yellow cap.
-
I shoot cock feather in, but don't notice a difference either way.
-
I shoot all chartreuse feathers and had always just nocked the arrow without regard to how it went. That is, until I heard the difference. Now I think I'll be sure and nock them CFI to reduce the noise. Thanks for the answers.

No difference for me in flight or noise level, but I shoot cock feather up. I see less wear this way on my hen feathers. Shawn

go to.www.arrowsbykelly.com.click on kellys tips, then click "other great tips".scroll down to bottom and they give a very good analysis of the differences of in and out of the arrow placement.very good info.

CFI in for me. better arrow flight. sometimes w/ carbon I can further fine tune. CFI for woodies though with great difference.

Cock feather up for me!
