I Use to have "Photo Editor" on my PC. Through a couple crashes and a new computer I am at a loss for a program to edit photos and do a decent job.
Tried a few of the on line freebees and they all leave me pretty flat.
What does everyone recommend

The software you need will all depend on how in depth you want to get with it. Microsoft Picture It is a very good basic editing program for around 30 bucks. Paint Shop Pro 10 by Corel has most of the same tools as Photoshop and PS Elements for around $ 100, and Photoshop is the choice of most "pros", but the full version is around $700.

I found a surprisingly complete and easy to use freeware program called "PhotoFiltre." It's pretty impressive, and the price is sure right.

Well... I've used just about all of them and there is no equal to Adobe Photoshop. If you have a kid in High School or College or if you work in the education arena you can purchase Adobe Creative Suite 2 for about $399.

The GIMP is a opensource photoshop knock off and has all the power of photoshop for free
I am assuming that you are using windows and not linux/unix
To install: Install the GTK fir then the program

This isn't by any means one of those online freebe's......it's free but you get every tool you need in one heck of a quality package for free. I do however use photoshop CS2 for it's user friendlyness, but give GIMP a try. It's complex but has a great users manual.

I went ahead and loaded Photofiltre last night. It may not be the greatest, but does pretty much everything I can think of it to do, and the price was right. Might have to try the "Gimp" too. Thanks for the help.
