Tonight, I was walked up the road about a tenth of a mile from my house… looked over to my left, and what do I see, but 6 deer out for the evening. Of course it was getting dark, and the photos are not the greatest, but what can you do.
I centered my attention on the bucks and as you can see there is a 6 point in velvet who - I’m pretty sure - will turn to an 8 pointer. I have no idea about age, but the sway back tells me he’s the “top dog” around here. I justify that comment by the way he was treating the other critters in his group. Yup, this one has an attitude.
Although the photos don’t show it, the big guy is pure white under underneath and down the inside of all 4 legs. I’ve only seen him one other time this year… and so... I call him “The Ghost”.
Like I’ve said before… I love where I live!
David
P.S. The fawn are about 3 weeks old.

Very nice David !

"The twins" (aka - fawns) where out last evening, about 30 yards from the back porch... jumping, running, and playing tag with each other.

Here's another buck I came upon tonight...approx. 50 yards out. To me, he looks like he'll be an 8pt. non-typical(?).

And this lady, I think, is getting ready to drop a fawn or two (I hope, I hope).

Just more of the neighbors:
June 05, 2009:
A spiker eating the tree leaves, and a 4 pointer escorting the lady.

June 06, 2009: The fawns are getting bigger. If you look in the photo, in the forefront is a Mckenzie target and adjacent to the fawns... a Reinhart.

Feeding time ... a few days ago~!
I don't know why the photo came out so dark, but it did! Sorry. It wasn't really that dark outside.

Nice pictures......David !!!
My guess as to why the last one came out so "grainy" is because.............you had zoomed in on the scene pretty far, and the closer to dark it is when you do that......the "grainier" the pictures become. I could be wrong, but speaking from past experience with my cameras, that's my guess, and I'm stickin' to it.

Don... hope you're well and you're right, I did zoom in but it was only about 35 yards with a 10x Canon Powershot.
Bill... not at ATAR this year, but Denton Hill. Next year, I'll return to ATAR. I assume you're going to both?? Tell your bride I said, "Howdy"!
