I'm going to build a homebrew trail camera. Can I build one that has the performance of a Reconyx? How about an infrared flash?
-
What performance areas of the reconyx are you wanting. Chasingame's review shows speed is about 0.75 sec versus the claimed 1/5 sec. They also found very low pic counts from the one they reviewed. Leatherneck recently built a homebrew with a 7 Mp camera and an internal IR slave flash, maybe he could throw up a few pics. His build would be right up there with the reconyx and you'd save over half the price and be getting twice the Mp's. I think his build even has external power for the cam.

My cam is in the woods but I'll snap a few pics when I go chech it. The slave is awesome and will outperform the recon in distance for sure. I love
this build. Give me a couple days.

I'd like to have a fast start up and a good ir flash range.

Going to the woods today. I'll snap a few pics of the cam to show ya. Then if youu have any questions feel free to ask adn I'll do my best to help.

Did you do a build along on this one?
-
No, he didn't but there's plenty of information out there if your considering that build. Not much different than the build I posted here, just a bigger case (pelican 1060) to get the slave flash in there with the cam and boards.
