Title: Your best photo of game taken with trad gear
Post by: yukon chuck on September 22, 2010, 08:01:00 PM: I thought it might be cool if folks posted photographs of themselves with game taken, or perhaps just the game alone and maybe your bow laying with it...whatever.. In an effort to do a better job myself of taking these photographs, I thought it might be cool to see the different angles and set ups that you've all done. Might be a great way to help us all become better at taking these shots. If you can remember any of the details, such as the size lens used, flash or no flash, etc..., please include that as well.

Second pic is a buck I shot this year early November in central Wisconsin. Picture was taken with my Nikon P-100 on auto setting. Forgot my tripod so I propped the camera up on my backpack for a few quick pics before the work began!

This was also my first trad kill. My dad was in the same platform stand we built and snapped the picture right as I released. This is right before the arrow is entering the deer or it is in the process of. (Notice yellow dot-fletching and nock)

Notice the one red arrow, a complete pass through, the hind quarters! Picture is a little graining, took it with my phone.

These were from a while ago using a 35mm canon auto focus sure shot.I thought they were great at the time.But look how grainey they really are.

Here is my bow...no kill yet with it but here is the setup im using to take my photos.

18-75mm 3.5-5.6 Lens
ND filter
Sigma flash bounced to the left side.

Focused it a little wrong as the bow is slightly blurry...but all in all, I liked the look of it.

I think my all time favorite hero shot was Denny Sturgis' dall sheep... if you've never seen it you should search the powwow for it...it's what I consider to be the best all around shot ever....the setting, the set up, the lighting, the subject, the smile, everything is what a tasteful hero shot should be...hats off to Denny for getting it right.
