Title: managing photo's on computer
Post by: razorback on December 14, 2011, 11:16:00 AM
I have a computer full of photo's, with lots of duplicates mismatched folders etc. I am planning on loading all onto an external drive and then organizing what I really want on the computer. What is a good program for managing photo's on the computer. I don't do anything special with them, just want neat and clean and to be able to get rid of the coupke of programs that are running now.

You can't beat Adobe Lightroom for organizing photos and it's also a very capable editor.  You can download the trial version off the Adobe website to see if you like it.  It does have a bit of a learning curve and I'd recommend watching some of the video tutorials, also on the Adobe site.

I suspect they will have sales and rebates after the holidays and you can probably purchase it for around $100.  I think I've seen it go for as low as $90 in the past.

I concur regarding Lightroom. That said, if you ny want to organize and not edit Picassa I pretty good and free.

Thanks guys. Had several people recommend picasa to me. I only want to organise and maybe small edits so don't need anything too complicated. I'm also rather partial to the price of Picasa, FREE  :)
