Title: tell me how-to composit photos

You know those cool pictures made up of 3 or 4 pics seamlessly stitched together of bows, animals, trophy shots, etc.? What is the easy way for us geezer, bumble fingered computer dinosaurs to learn that? Is there free or cheap software that makes it easy?

I'm a PC guy, do I need to switch to Mac to make this easy?

Shaun, do you mean like this?  If so, just use photobucket. Add up to 6 (or maybe 8 pics) all on one post. After you paste one hit return..paste another, hit return, etc.
Use the preview post button to make sure they are like you want them, then hit the add reply.

Simple composites like that can be done in Paint, which you should already have bundled in your operating system if you're on a PC. There are several good higher end software programs like Lightroom and Photoshop that can do more complicated composites. You can also do some elaborate composites on the better video editing software programs like Premiere, Avid, Vegas, After Effects, etc.

Tom, I don't see an obvious way to do it in paint. Can you give a walk through or at least a hint how-to

Open Paint

Size to frame size you want

Size each of the pictures you want to include to the proper size (ex. if you want 4 pictures of equal size in a 640X480 picture you would would make each of your pictures 320X240)

Copy and paste each of the pictures into your 640X480 Paint and arrange

Example of what it would look like

You can make each of the pictures within the composite any size you want as long as the total size of the four combined equals the size you made your target, in this case 640X480.

This is what I was trying to do. Figured out that XP paint version was too primitive for sizing and composites. Bought cheap photo program software (Photo Explosion $40) and figured it out. Thanks Tom.

I just got this through the mac app store. A free collage program called Photo Collage Pro Free. This collage took all of about 3 minutes to do.
