It is the rainy season here and normally I do not do much hunting cause it is so wet. The last few days though, the pigs have been feeding like crazy in the jungle behind my house. Been seeing 8 or 10 almost every day but would be gone by the time I got geared up to go after them.
This morning as soon as I got up around 7:00 I strung the Robertson and laid it on the bed. Sure enough about 8:30 I hear them feeding so I grab the bow and one arrow with a 4 blade on it and sneak into the jungle.
About 20 yards in I see them feeding under a soursap tree. No shooting lanes though but had good cover and what wind there was came into my face. So slowly put the sneak on them. Got within three steps, that is right three steps and this 60lb sow was quartering away, head down and rooting. Picked my spot. Do not remember drawing my bow, heard a squeal and all heck broke loose, pigs running everywhere, yep the arrow went right where I was looking.
Got real quiet real quick. I backed out to get my hawk to cut my way through to look for her.
My bro from Texas called while I was getting the hawk so had to talk to him for a bit, then said goodby to go look for the pig before all the blood was washed away.
Found my arrow completely covered in bright red blood and started tracking. Now this area is real muddy and the pigs have the entire area rooted up, footing was slicker than snot. Followed blood for about fifteen yards and then it stopped where two trails came together. Took up one trail with pig prints that appeared to be running followed it for a good bit, no blood.
Turned around and went back to last blood, I knew this pig was dead and I was determined to find her. Do not know how many spiders I ate going through the thick stuf but had several on my face, I hate spiders, especially these big banana spiders that are all over the place here, screamed like a sissy a few times,LOL.Took the other trail and sure enough within 20 yards started finding good blood. Went about 200 yards and there she was, died in the steepest slickest part. I must have fell down 20 times looking for her. Took off my belt and put it around her neck and proceded to drag her out. By the time I got her to the house it was time to get ready for work and I was wore plum out, but very satisfied.
Called my wifes cousin and he came over and took the pig to clean it since I had to get to work. Good family, LOL.
I took some pics and will post them here tomorrow.

MY NIECE LIVES THERE, MY SISTER AND BROTHER AND LAW ARE THERE NOW. DON'T ASK WHERE (BAD UNCLE) GUAM I'M LUCKY AND KNOW WHERE IT IS JUST NOT THEM. CONGRATS ON THE PIG, AND WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO THE PICTURE'S DANNY. NOW I WILL HAVE TO FIND OUT WHERE IN GUAM. YOU COULD BE NEXT DOOR.

HEY WAIT TWO MINUTES, YOU DID SHOOT IT ON TOP OF THE HILL (CORRECT?) YOUR BACON JUST WENT SOUTH. MINUTE TWO, DID YOU NOT JUST GET A NEW SILVERTIP? AT THREE YARDS AND YOU DID'NT USE IT?
I KNOW THERE WAS A LOT OF CLOSE CONTACT IN THAT AREA IN WWII. BUT NOW IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE ANKLE BITERS\\SLASHERS AND FACE BITTERS NOT TO MENTION OTHER PLACES. I WAS CONSIDERING A VISIT NOW I THINK MY TICKS AND MOSQUITOS ARE ENUFF. :scared: :scared: :scared:
-
My goodness..look at the shot placement!
-
Actually Mickey that is the exit hole. Shot went in on the other side midway and angled forward and out making that hole, low and tight, made for a pretty good blood trail even with the rain once I got on the correct trail.

BAD UNCLE HAS THE ADDRESS 420 FARENHOLT, TAMUNING GAUM 96913. ARE THEY CLOSE? CLOSE THE ISLANDS ONLY LIKE 32 MILES IN ANY DIRECTION IS IT NOT? NO PIGS HERE IN THE BACK YARD BUT THERE IS A DOE AND TWO FAWNS RIGHT NOW. THURSDAY MORNING I WATCHED TWO SMALL BUCKS, A VERY SMALL 8 POINT AND A SPIKE MAYBE 4 POINT PUSH EACH OTHER ALL OVER ABOUT 1 ACRE OF THE BACK 10 FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES. THEY WHERE REALLY TESTING ONE ANOTHER. AND IT WAS REALLY NEAT TO WATCH THEM DO THERE THING.

hormoan,
Ya don't have to yell,LOL. Typing in all caps is equivilant to yelling. 420 Farenholt is in Tumon and sounds like a Hotel addy. Actually I would prefer deer in the jungle behind my house, much better eating.

danny my man,,,for a guy who went 400+ yrds to and fro you look dang good! good job and congrats
-
Any big spiders are attention getters. I remember on Oahu when they burned the sugar cane fields. Cane spiders everywhere. Up behind Pearl in Aiea(sp) spiders out the ying yang. God hit.
-
Sorry did not mean to yell, soulds like you do have some deer. What type are they? Are they something native, or a import?
-
Thanks for the pics Danny. Nice shooting.
-
Great job Danny. I spent a little time in Guam while in the Navy and also hunted in Hawaii for hogs and the conditions are similiar, miss hunting in the wet jungle. Just something about that terrain that takes you back in time.

No problem Brent,LOL
Yes we have Sambar deer here which were brought over from the Philipines by the Spanish several hundered years ago. Very tough hunt. Have seen a few, but have not killed one in a while. If they bust ya they have a very loud alarm bark and it will scare the you know what out of ya if you do not see them.

WAY TO GO DANNY   :thumbsup:JEFF

Hey thats a good thing them being there that is. They are a beautful deer, I imagine its hard hunting period in the jungle. Never been in one expect for TV shows. I have a whitetail doe and her twins 100 yds out the back door right now. They are feasting on a couple dozen ears of corn. I don't bait them to hunt them, only to watch them. They are such a joy to watch interact, more so in the woods. But the picture window is almost as good! Our archery deer season opens a week from today. Can hardly wait!
