Title: Shot a nice fat doe tonight
Post by: reddogge on December 30, 2008, 09:24:00 PM
Will know Friday what she weighs but suffice it to say she is the biggest doe, if not the heaviest buck or doe I have ever shot, rifle or bow. 15 yard shot on the ground from an improvised ground blind, middle of chest. She only had one hole in her so she ran 100 yards before piling up.

Good mojo going on here: 71' Bear Kodiak Hunter 43#, my old favorite Fred Bear hunting coat from the late 60s, Fedora I bought in Sept in Jackson, WY, wool shirt bought from Eric Krewson on TradGang, BDU pants from my young bass fishing buddy in the reserves.

Since I was in a rush and loosing daylight quickly the color shots turned out too gory (deer was covered with blood and gore all over the ground) this one came out with self timer from the ground. Sorry it wasn't better. Felt good to make meat with a recurve again.

Never apologize for picture quality...Thanks for including us.

Feels good doesn`t it!!!!

Nice shooting. I bet the old Bear is purring.

I would love to have one of those Fred Bear coats.

Congratulations.

Next time you do that, don't hesitate to call. I'd have been happy to find an excuse to come help ya'

That looks like one fat slickhead there. Can't wait to hear the story in person.

Congratulations bud. Looks like you never forget "how to ride a bike".

We'll talk soon. Way to go!

Good going that Trophy Doe looks older than your outfit and old doe is harder to fool than a Big Buck Congrats

Thanks for the offer Jim.  I called an old hunting partner who lives pretty nearby and we took her up to Hunter's barn on 91 to hang until Thursday. My wife didn't want it in the tree with company coming tonight!

Very nicely done.
Interestingly, the picture is b&w but the arrow nocks show up greenish.

ChristopherO,
You nailed it.  In my thrashing around to get the self timed picture and balance the camera on a log I did something to the color balance and couldn't undo it in time.  So the picture looks B&W but the nocks still are green.
