I know. What is a bowyer doing hunting with a bow that someone else made. Answer- appreciating a true work of art.
The Story started about 6 months ago when I met a new friend through trad gang and ended up selling him a Mojostik. We talked back and forth quite a bit during the build process of his bow, and it was revealed the he too was a bowyer. An unfortunare shoulder injury ended his selfbow building for good. It also forced him to shoot a bow much lighter in weight and higher in performance than a selfbow. We Exchanged pictures of our work, and I really admired a bow that he had built for a friend of his that had died before getting the bow. In coinsidense he named the bow "Mojo". After speaking of my admiration I recieved the bow as a gift a couple of weeks later. In order to honor Jasons true tallent, and Dennis who never got to see his beautiful bow, I had a mission.
That brings me to todays story and pictures....Until this point of the season I am without venison. I begged my wife to let me hunt Christmas eve in the 18 inches of snow that we have gotten in the last 2 weeks. Fifteen minutes before dark there were more than 10 deer withing eyesight. It took the doe pictured below 12 of the 15 minutes left to give me a shot. A cedar shaft, 160 grain grizzly(razor sharp), and a 60# self bow with canebreak skin backing, filled my freezer. A 70 yard tracking job that a blind mad could follow revealed a double lung hit. Blood on snow sure looks cool. God bless you for the great gift Jason. I'm sure Dennis was guiding my arrow.

Looks like your using photobucket. To resize, select the picture then look for the drop down menu that says "edit image". This will take you to a new view where it will show the photo size. Resize by the preset sizes, large is 640x400, or other choice that first number is 640 or less.
Save as a new image or save to replace the current too large image. Then follow what you already know to link to Tradgang.

I just switched back to Grizzly's for thist hunt. That makes me 3 for 3 with them. Not a bad blood trail yet. Even with the doe that I shot in the butt last year (oops!!!). This last one is gonna make some tender jerky in the smoker.

Ok. Here is my little buddy that follows me around in the wood when I am hunting, and hanging treestands. I finally showed the little guy some action.

Outstanding story and pictures J.D. It just goes to show you how good MOJO works :notworthy:

Congratulations on a great late season deer! Very cool story too. This is a perfect example of traditional hunting at its finest. All of the factors involved - late season, heavy snow, empty freezer, and most important, a very special bow.
Good job!
-
Way to go!!! I love it how we get blessed with our deer when we least expect it.
