It was AWESOME!
I used Mike Mitten's "puppet" rattling technique and he came from 300 yards on a dead run to kick my tail. I shot him at what later measured 27 yards with my Silvertip and Snuffer SS.
He's got 15 points over an inch plus some broken ones, 19 1/2 inch inside spread and he measures 30" around his neck up by his chin! He was quite a fighter; his neck and shoulders are all tore up.
-
Man that awesome Steve!!!! He's a dandy bruiser for sure!
Congrats again!
-
WOW!!!! Congrats on a DANDY Buck!!
David
-
Wow that's a nice one for sure. How old do you think that buck is? 5 1/2?

Thank guys!
We've been hitting it pretty hard out here since April scouting every chance we got and with a little help from some local friends. My two hunting buddy's were able to come out as sceduled Oct 24th and I got delayed a week due to problems at work. Both are Trad Gangers. Cote (Stickman) shot a nice 9 pt Saturday, but I don't have a picture. Here is a pic of Gary's (Chimaster) buck from last Monday. He shot his buck with a Habu VyperKhan and Snuffer SS.

Very Nice SteveO! How about a few details on how you hit him, how far he went after the shot, etc. What are the specs on your new Silvertip? I think I saw pictures of it before on here but I don't remember the details on it. I bet it looks even better with a little blood on it!! Rick.
-
Nicely done!!! Beauty!!!

Just awesome guys!!! Congrats to all of you :clapper: :clapper: :clapper:

Thanks for the link Steve... and congrats again, that big boy has some AWESOME character!! An amazing deer, I would consider that a deer of a lifetime for me  What did that big boy field dress at?? I am gonna guess 230...
Kevin.
-
Very nice bucks! Congratulations Steve!
-
Nice Buck! :clapper:
-
I just love a crazy rack. Congrats.
-
Steve, that is a neat cart you are using as well. I have a non typical cart...those wheels on yours look bigger and sturdier than mine.
Is that a custom job or available on the market?
-
:bigsmyl:
-
What some awesome deer! Congrats!
-
Congrats great bucks
-
What zone?
-
W  W!
-
great deer Steve.

I second the notion on crazy non-typical racks. Wonderful character. Not sure on the age of that buck but his neck says he is well over 3 1/2. It would be interesting to use one of those teeth staining guides and see what he was.
Once again great buck and great pictures.
Chris
-
Steve that's a great lQQking buck. I'd get a new though... :D
-
Very nice indeed. Congrats all around.
-
Way to go guys!
-
I don't know how much he weighed, but it was a lot more than I am used to. Thankfully, I thought ahead to bring the cart. I bought the cart at the bargain cave at Cabelas. I think the best features of it are the wheels. Solid double wheels.
I am going to get him aged, I am not sure how old he is, but I know he is not a 1.5 year old Michigan buck and I am very thankful for this opportunity.
-
Way to got Steve!! Dang, I need to get some knives out your way...Great R&D Ray  Doc
-
Way to go Steve!!!
What a neck on that creature.
-
You boys heading down to MO now taht you filled your IA tags?
-
Congratulations Steve! :bigsmyl:
-
I was with steve on that hunt, sure was glad to see it first hand. Sad to see the hunt end, it was a great camp!!! Having something to bring home sure makes the ride easy :)
-
Congrats
-
What a beauty Steve! Big ol' Roman nose and all! Now I see why you were so pumped for this hunt!
-
Congrats, both excellent deer.
-
Terrific! Congratulations guys!
-
WOW! Great buck buddy!
-
Steve, that is one dandy mature deer! Nice shooting and pictures. Give me a call this winter if you are still coming to Iowa City for work. We can shoot 20 yards in my heated shop now, save the F&F from all our tall tales.
-
Shaun,
That sounds like a good plan; maybe you can show me how to make that braised venison too :saywhat:
-
Many of you asked about the deer cart I was using. I just saw Cabela's has the Single Wheel model of it on sale.

-
steve...is that tip the ebony beauty you posted with the lope? hopefully you didnt bloody it up, just ray's knife.....Great Buck! Congrats
-
Yep, that's my "dress" bow :D I only take it on hunts where I know I can baby it. So far it is 100%--3 for 3
-
Steve O,
Lechwe tells me that as of the other night it must be 3 for 4!
D.P.
-
Steve, I think thats the updated version of my Non Typical cart...very similar...its the same company that makes Rapid Rails and I think Wayne Prejean sold out to one of the big outfits.
Those are some great bucks...and fantastic hero pictures. You guys did a fantastic job getting the pics right!
-
Old Shortstop...I don't think we want to tell everybody everything ol' Lechwe says on the internet...do we :D
I, like yourself, do have another bow or two :readit:
If you have a chance, give me a call in the morning. I'll be driving from 7-9.
-
Ray,
I thought the Non-Typical had kind of a "V" to lay the deer in?
I just remember there were more questions about the cart tahn the deer when I originally posted, so when I saw the other night they were on sale, I thought I would let everybody know.
Oh, and used the knife on another deer the other day and finally had to get out the KME rather than my steel to put the edge back on. Very happy with the damascus :notworthy:
-
Steve, just ordered one of the carts that you had on your link. Getting too old to drag big stuff!!!!!
-
congrats on a great deer. Very nice bow as well.
-
the 1st coupla posts I thought you were trying to tell us you killed that deer with Ray's knife.....
-
Biggie,
That was just a little inside info for Ray...he got my knife done in time for me to use it on my Pronghorn hunt and I couldn't bring myself to use it it was so gorgeous...he tore me a new one, so I promised I would use it on a big Iowa buck.
Worked out good for me ;) ; I don't break promises!
-
That buck would have needed a lot bigger knife, Big!!!!
Steve, the nontypical cart does NOT have a V on it...I will take a pic of mine next week when I am back over in SC and we'll do a comparison.
-
Steve,
Now that just hurts. That's going to leave a deep emotional scar.
Dave,
Just to be sure, you obviously are not counting last years tally correct? :biglaugh:
