Title: Son provides Thanksgiving Dinner again
Post by: Bjorn on November 13, 2008, 04:53:00 PM
Well I am outdone and embarrased by yhe young lad-third year in a row!! When will I learn to leave him at home instead of letting him duck school for a day or two................
This time, we are hunting in Northern California, it was getting dark. We were crouched down watching a group of hogs munching on acorns working their way along a ridge and down through a small creek.
Their path would take them within bow range of us. By now it is just about dark, the pigs are becoming brave and ignore us while passing at 20 yards.
I zero in on a beautiful boar, pick a spot .....right in the boiler room of a good sized rock! Sparks and bits of stone and broadhead explode on the spot. For an instant they all freeze-long enough............my son is a good 10 yards farther from the animals, he draws back and and sticks one with a beautiful shot that puts dinner down on the ground!
What do you call a 'love/hate relationship'?

Just look at that smarmy grin!

Bjorn,

If you read between the lines, I don't think you'd have it any other way, you're just got all the bragging rights you can stand ! Dad !

Good job, now maybe you could show you're Dad how to deer hunt too  !!

Great job, and a great memory for both of you

Carl

Excellent!!! There is a little something in his smile, how dare him -   :goldtooth:

What is that on the quiver of his hood?

The leather extention on his quiver shields his tender fingertips from the evil grizzly broadheads that are too long for the quiver hood.

Bjorn, it's a lot of fun isnt it. My two sons end up outdoing me with deer and turkeys every year. I wouldn't have it any other way.

I guess if you have to be out done by someone it may as well be your own flesh and blood.Although ,you seem mighty proud to be out done.

deadpool "was this porker taken on public land?"

It was on private land, and the hogs come and go, the only fencing is for livestock. We saw one group that must have been over 60 animals and several others with a dozen or so.
It is spot and stalk hunting, or ambush---woah! I just got a rush typing that!

Bjorn,

What are the specs on your son's ACS and limb length?  They look a little shorter than 62".

Mike

Papa: "What are the specs on your son's ACS and limb length? They look a little shorter than 62"."

The bow is a 62" ACS CX 50#@28. His draw is 24", and likely 38# the arrows are right at 500 gr.
