Well last saturday, a day before my week of hunting was up, it all came together on a buck.
It was a great ending to a great week, perfect weather, lots of action, and just great all around campin'
Took him with a 58" Shrew Samarai, GT 3555 w/ 100 grn brass insert and 150 grain Razorcaps.
Hope all have a great season.
Now for them elk!!!

Ok, the story...
It was about 9:30ish in the morning, still hunting through some aspens, came up over a small rise, to a sage brush bench, and jumped him from his bed. He took a few steps, stopped and turned to look at me. I drew, and as the arrow was in flight(looked to be on a string for his goodies) he took a few steps to leave, and I hit him a bit back. I had a decent blood tail that disappeared after about 100 yrds. Jumped him a few yards ahead, and he down a small hill into a small stand of aspens. I waited him out, snuck(a real hunting word) down the hill, and finished him with a second arrow.
Here is one of packing him out

Great buck! I am surprised that he is still in the velvet. The few buck I have recently seen no longer have velvet. Any details of the hunt?

I added a short account of the hunt on page 2.
Thanks alot
BTW - All the bucks I saw last week were all in the velvet, and I saw probably 8 or 10 his size or better ( they might have been the same bucks seen numerous times) but I saw at least 5 different real good 4 points.

I was hunting GMU 40 just south of Grand Junction. Lots of private, but I was fortunate to find a nice chunk of public that held some nice bucks.
