The MI turkey season opened today. Beautiful morning. Saw 5 gobblers and 10 hens. This Tom came by ten yards out an hour into the hunt and the old faithful BW longbow made a perfect shot. IN season opens wednesday so I will still get some hunting in.

He had a 10 1/4" beard and 3/4" spurs. Broke in my new Arrow Master quiver too.

Nice bird Denny. Maybe you will have to start hunting without a blind or use a blunt and head shoot them - so you can have a longer season. Nothing wrong with your other plan - go to another state and keep hunting. Hope the next hunt ends just as well with only slightly longer wait afield.
-
Shaun, I up the bar by trying to video them, but I don't pass the shots if I guess the wrong side of the blind. Besides we are way behind at work right now and I could feel the "denny" disease coming on strong. I think I could pull off a no blind in some of the spots I have - I'll have to try it sometime.
Thanks everyone and the best of luck to all of you!

Nice bird buddy,, I missed my Tom this mornin,, Had him at 5 yrds drumming while I was in a natural blind. When I shot my bottom limb caught the pine limb I thought wasn't in the way,,LOL :banghead: ,, But I still had a great morning,, Great bird again and see ya around,,JB

What part of Indiana will you be hunting? Just curious if you might be hunting anywhere near me (North East part of the state).

Nice bird Denny! With the bow weight you shoot, I am amazed the arrow didn't just bounce off that bird! Good job-Mike

Hood, Yes, I'll be in the NE part. Looks like the birds are coming on there.

Rod, it was the quiver MO JO or your coaching and blank bale practice you had me doing all winter. :)
-
Nice bird Denny!! I should have went out yesterday morning instead of working!! :banghead: :banghead:
-
You sound sick Tim - you better take tomorrow off. ;)
-
Thanks Dr. Denny!!! Can you write me a note? :biglaugh:
-
Great Bird!
-
Very nice.
-
Congrats Denny, nice bird.
I've was out yesterday and missed the location setup by 400 yards, then this morning set up where they were yesterday- and they decide to come off the roost 100 yards back towrds yesterdays setup.....
the toms aren't very vocal this year so they have been difficult to locate once they vacate the field.....
-
Congrats on an awesome bird.
-
Well done Denny! Congrats! That's a nice bird! ;)
-
"denny" fever!!! stay back, I don't want to catch that. It sounds like a mental illness that could sent a fellow to work instead of afield. I use a dry erase whole year calendar and mark in the hunts well in advance, then try to squeeze some work in the blank spots. Good luck with bow and video the rest of the turkey season.
-
Hey Denny,
Since we will be hunting fairly close, feel free to call me if you need help dragging one out! ;)
Our Indiana birds get pretty big!

:bigsmyl: The Arrowmaster has been in on several kills of late!
So you can teach an old dog new tricks ?? :biglaugh: Judging from the shot you put on that gobbler...all that form work paid off!
